Would it affect his legacy? Or would people attribute it to him being past his prime? I think Wlad has a lot of haters so I'm thinking it would be used against him in terms of his ATG status. This is with the fact that I can't name one top HW who was at the top of his division at his age.
Wlad's 39 now. Hadn't lost a fight in 11 years or whatever it's been. A loss now won't do him any harm, legacy-wise. :smoke
People probably won't hold it against him because he's almost 40. Fury won't get much credit for the win, just like Marciano doesn't get credit for beating reigning champion Jersey Joe Walcott. If you beat a champion who reached his peak in his late 30s, you just don't get the credit you deserve, because most fans don't realize that some fighters peak later than others.
Of course it wont affect his legacy!! Wlad past it...i rate him in the top 10 greatest heavyweight..tyson fury after he wins has an awful lot to do to match wlad achievements yes he can beat wlad now but can he reign that long we have to see
It would detract for sure, to lose to a clown in a campy batman outfit. If Wlad is the man I think he is he teaches this dude a severe lesson.
No I agree But wlad is professional enough not to allow that to happen. He will take care of business and end the side show that is fury. And his fanboys on here will be gone
He could probably absorb it to be honest. The fact of it happening would raise Fury’s stock, and reduce our assessment of how close to his prime Wlad was. Coming at the end of a long title reign, it could then be rationalised.
At this point in Wlad's career I don't think it would effect it too much, if at all. Wlad's clearly in decline, he lost more rounds in his last fight against Jennings that he has since the first Peter fight. The signs are there that he's reached the point when he could be ready to be taken. It would still be a surprise if it happened but it's understandable at his age.
Fury should certainly get credit - not the credit of defeating a prime W Klitschko, but still deserving of some MASSIVE credit. Realistically even though Wlad is starting to look past his best, he is still looking beyond virtually everyone else's best. Whoever defeats him in the next year deserve to hold whatever belts they acquire in the process. Tbh at this stage I don't see it being Fury, but I won't rule it out. Very much looking forward to this fight!
I think it effects it considerably,Wlad hasn't even fought his best fight yet...a loss in my mind puts a dent in it...a huge one.Not b/c of either skills but then you will have the others saying Wlad lost to a bigger boxer.
Of course Wlad's legacy would take a huge hit, losing to some bipolar abomination with a clumsy fight style and grating personality. Wlad still has an obligation, regardless of what you think of him to keep the title far away from people like Tyson Fury.
^This. Fury's time is up in a few more weeks. People will be reminded of just how destructive Wladimir was against Pulev. Too many are so quick to make excuses for the awkward Jennings performance. Wlad is still too good for the rest of the field out there and he's not going anywhere for a few more years.
