Viewing the hw division differently removes the value in including them in a p4p list. I'm not saying I don't have him in my top ten, i'm asking if there is a reasonable argument that on a p4p basis he's in the top 6. Achievement wise I wouldn't disagree. But is he really one of the 6 most skillful boxers in the world today?
you did ok until that part please just stop. Donaire is there because he's beaten higher quality fighters than Haye and Samuel Peters. Donaire is fast, quick feet, good counterpuncher, somewhat slick, one punch KTFO power, excellent ring IQ. Wlad should be in the top 10, but not over the 5 guys I mentioned before
Klit should absolutely be ranked top 10pfp. P4P ranks are without things like size, and weight in the equation. It is saying if the playing fields were magically equaled- on fighting talent alone (often demonstrated in resumes and records) Vlad has been very successful in his division and has a high knockout ratio of late. It however should be noted that P4P is not H2H or ATG.
Instead of crying about what a detractor might or might not say, why not prove someone, who might or might not be a detractor, why wlad is one of the 6 most skillful boxers alive today. The fact you even refer to me as a detractor shows you don't really read posts because you get too caught up about someone questioning your hero. Now remove your strap on, stop pretending to be a real man and get back in the kitchen, *****.
This what I be talking about. Using his advantages is a good reason and it's the reason I have him there atm. Is it reason enough? That I dunno.
Great thread and points. What if 100 guys had Ali speed, Foremans power and chin and were 7'5'' they would be better than Wlad also. How about if the Hulk or Superman were boxers, they would kill Wald. Wow, ESB just gets dumber every day. atsch
But this is POUNDFORPOUND as in is Wlad pound for pound as good as say Andre Ward? Not speedforspeed as if they were just as fast, but pound for pound. Put Wlad at 168 against Ward and who do you think wins? For him to fit in that division, he'd have to be shorter of course though.
Remember Lennox Lewis? He was nearly as big as Wlad...1 inch difference in height, but no one objected to him being on the P4P list. So why now, why Wlad? You have some explaining to do. Size in the heavyweight division can be an advantage and a disadvantage. Bigger fighters are generally slower. slower hands, slower feet and tends to be a little clumsy. Valuev, Fury, Fields are bigger than Wlad, but are just mediocre. Without skills, they're just average boxers. Wlad, combiningg his size and skills is almost impossible to outbox. But speaking of people around the same weight, can you imagine Pac being 5'10", longer reach and comes into the ring at 160 during fight night? He would knock nearly everyone from 140-154 out with ease.
I was really hoping that The Ring would put him at #3. If not #3, at least in the top 5. That was a huge win. Most anticipated fight in almost a decade.
resume, recent wins and dominance matter as well, otherwise we could put b-hop 1/2, I have the klits in my top 10, Im thinking about putting wlad over nr 4 marquez at the moment.
You're such a moron it's unreal. You think that because I rate donaire and frazier as better p4p fighters than wlad that makes me a hater? Niga just scan through my recent threads. Damn fools like you don't have a clue at all.
I agree with you 100%! pound for pound should be based off of skill not record. Record should only be used only to determine skill. WHen i think pound for pound I think how would these guys fair against each other if they were the same weight. After saturday night I cannot see any heavy making the top 20 . . . the utter lack of skill in the ring that night was amazing. it was 1-2 push vs wild swing, wild swing flop! Ademak or Haye might make it if the stayed below heavyweight but I do not see that their extra weight has made either a better boxer (better stamina or punch resistance). Plus haye might have totally blown the idea that he was ever in the top 20 after saturday (even at cruiser) it was that bad!
Neither should Paul Williams and Lennox Lewis according to the topic starter. I guess size disqualifies them from being rank very high. Clearly the only thing guys like Hearns, Wlad, and Williams have is just size. atsch
