That's not true at all. :nono Wlad vs. Brewster 1 was very exciting because Wlad was beating Lamon's ass & even knocked him down prior to getting stopped himself. That was a good fight even if there's questions as to what happened to Wlad. I also enjoyed Wlad vs. Brock, Thompson & Chris Byrd 2. Wlad vs. Austin was great & so was Wlad vs. Chambers.
People shouldn't take "pound for pound" too seriously. People should also stop repeating the myth and false statement that the term was created for Sugar Ray Robinson. It was NOT!
Are you saying that is the first time in boxing that size ever meant anything. Look through the years and even when boxers were smaller overall it played a part!
Clearly you know nothing about motivation leading to divide boxing in different weight classes with the last one being without limit superior.
Nooo what i'm saying is, "is wlad's effective use of his size demonstrating enough skill that you'd say he's one of the 6 most skilled boxers in the world"
I usually thinks the same way about Packman. He looks skilled, but if he was not so fast he would not prevail. Dont think he deserves to be the number one, to be honest. And Wlad does not deserve to be ranked as one of the 6 most skilled boxers. Not only his size, but also his spead and power helps him getting away with poor abillity ....
I understand your argumentation, but when a fella uses his size to his advantage, differing size and skill gets a bit tricky. How about people using their speed to their advantage, or their power? Is that pure skill? P4P is not only about skill. It is also about talent. And as a HW, beeing big is part of the talent. So your point fails, as I see it.
To go down than line, Froch is number one. No speed. Heavy hands but not that heavy. Poor reflexes. Not very clever (intelligence is not earned, you are born with it). He only has some toughness going for him. In other words no talent to speak of, but he still does well. BHop as number two. So old, but still going strong. He would be number one, where he not born with a slyness that gives him an unfair advantage. Ward as number three. Clearly skilled. Adamek as number four. Small, featherfisted, only has some speed going for him. Still doing well. After that it gets kind of hazy. I am a casul fan, to be honest, so I can only manage a top four.
I don't have a point, i've posed a question as to how people define p4p and where wlad fits in that definition. For me he's number 6. Behind pac, martinez, donaire, jmm and hopkins. If floyd beats ortiz and ward beats froch he'll drop down again to number 8.
