Round one starts timidly with Merdov trying to flick out the jab but John's head movement evades it mostly. Few decent left hooks come in from John with 2 or 3 landing but the tall Ukranian leans back to avoid most. John lands a couple of straights towards the end. 10-9 John

Chris John boxing well to duck under Merdov's sloppy jabs. Lands a good right hand over the top that backs up Merdov. John boxing from a lower position but able to control the distance well. Merdov leans on him when they come in close. Merdov continues to flick out a slow jab and John counters over the top with a big right hook to floor him. Merdov gets up at the 8 count but looks hurt. John staying composed pushes him to the ropes. The challenger now keeps a high guard but looks wobbly on his feet. Blood on his nose too. Another few good rights from Chris John and he is dominating. Hurts him again towards the end but Merdov tucks up to survive. 20-17 John

can't see this fight lasting too much longer, John to experienced and his power will see this stopped before round 6.

The Ukranian challenger looks well out of his depth

Big round for John that. Stan looked out on his feet

Better start to the 3rd for Merdov but he's still unable to catch the tricky Chris John, who counters with the right hand over the top again. This jab he's throwing now is pointless. It's slow, and leaves him wide open for pretty much any return from John. He's not even throwing anything behind the jab. The Ukranian again looks wobbly but game even though this is very easy for CJ right now. 30-26

Left hook from Wlodarczyk was a little similar to the right one Groves landed on Smith - sneaky, clever shot.

    ^^^ Good comparison :good

Stanyslav Merdov bouncing round on his feet to start the 4th. John is still able to land the straight right with ease though. And he's backs it up with a looping left hook, round the guard of the challenger. Merdov is clumsy and gets caught again in close. Chris John again measuring distance perfectly and a big right hand knocks the head of his opponent back. Surprised he stood up from that but Merdov is still in there. And the champion now takes command of the middle of the ring. Another conclusive round for Chris John. 40-35.

Merdov has barely landed a single even slightly effective punch on John in this fight. He's looking like a prizefighter reject right now but credit to him for carrying on. He is frustrating John a little more in this round. Chris John gets in closer but Merdov pushes him away. The challenger is coming back into this. Flicks out the jab and follows it up with a right uppercut. Chris John's punch output has dropped but he's still countering quite well. Maybe John was resting a little but he still probably took the round anyway. 50-44.

Round 6 opens with Chris John trying to force his own jab a little more. He's ducking low and winging wide hooks to the head and body. Merdov's a bit steadier on his feet now but still getting caught often. The Ukranian may be cut on his left eye but the pictures gone on my steam anyway

Ok well it doesn't look like it's coming back on here and my Polish is a little weak to be able to work out what they're saying.

I don't think it would be wrong to assume that Chris John wins though. And probably by stoppage. Then again, I was wrong in the first fight so who knows.

I've enjoyed this afternoon's boxing anyway :good
