I agree to some degree but it would be hard to push the family man persona now after he left his wife and kids, strangled a hooker in Vegas and is now having a child with a reality TV celebrity.

I used to quite like Wilder around the time of the Liakhovich fight, if you watch his early interviews he's a totally different person, more genuine, funny even, but winning the title, having money and the desire to be more recognised has seen him put on this fake persona.

I actually think the fake persona has worked to some degree, it might not appeal to everyone but it does resonate with a certain demographic and without it he might not have been able to overcome the poor managing of his career and weak matchmaking to find himself in a position to be headlining a PPV card.

Ah.... I wasn't aware of the change in Deontay's personal circumstances...

    Good point!

Agreed, while real boxing fans will decry the fakery, casuals will lap it up because they are casuals and don't know any better. It wouldn't of gotten the media attention it has without these incidents of fakery.

And yes Fury is the one who's really selling the fight. Wilder just sits there mumbling these incomprehensible answers, whispering like he's telling us some secret and then randomly screams bomb squad. I honestly don't know what he's talking about half the time. You ask him a question like how is he going to win then goes on some weird tirade about being blessed, about how he has different personalities etc. Just answer the fricken question!

But come fight time it's Wilder who will be the one bringing the action and Fury trying to spoil his way to a boring points win so it balances out.
