Not that anyone cares anyway as women's boxing is about as popular as a honking pile of poop with flies circling over. It seems that in almost every big fight in women's boxing, every televised and advertised fight in women's boxing there is huge controversy (robberies by way of dodgy judges to say the least). In tonight's fight that nobody wanted to see, Nicola Adams vs Maria Salinas, Salinas clearly won on aggression and clean shots. Yet, somehow the judges rule the fight as a draw. Adams was flat all night yet the home-town judges cooked a nice home-town decision. The little Mexican Salinas, who looked way smaller than Adams won this fight, even the home-crowd boo'ed the decision and loudly showed their disapproval to seeing the deserving victor robbed on a W. The BT Sport commentary was incredibly biased. Adams won 3 rounds at most. Adams has only had 6 fights now and this isn't even the first controversial decision she has had. It seems almost every woman's boxing fight is rigged. At least in the men's fights there are legitimate cards and decisions. I have yet to see a ladies fight without controversy. The last one I watched was also a robbery, Katie Taylor getting her backside spanked by Delfine Persoon. Needless to say, I have no interest in lady boxing and most probably never will.
I haven't watched much of women's boxing so I can't comment on the overall state of it but you are absolutely spot on regarding the Adams vs Salinas fight. Terrible robbery. Salinas dominated and dictated the whole fight. Commentators were extremely biased too. I feel bad for Salinas, she fought her ass off.
Sounds like OP is complaining more about terrible officiating than the quality of the boxing. Surprise! The same assol officials are in men's boxing delivering crap decisions. I don't mind women's boxing. They often have fine tear-ups and even though they may not always be super-skilful, they nearly always put up a fun show.
It's just wrong that they put it on the undercards of "normal" boxing events. Women's boxing should be completely separate. Whoever likes it watches it, and who doesn't is not forced to.
The greatest debacle for me was when Laila Ali fought Christy Martin. Christy got on the scales with fatigues and weights in her pockets. Her being a the tiny little chick fighting a LHW. As @BCS8 said, on the undecards those girls be banging! A great scrap to see is Ali vs Frazier. Jackie didn't have but a few fights, was in her later 30s or early 40s? She threw punches like an angry bitter school girl, they were sloppy, awkward & comical, but at some point she started tagging the hell out of Laila. Even broke her nose. Laila post fight responded "we knew she was going to be wild, but I didn't think she would be that wild." Jackie fought like a female version of Deontay Wilder minus KO power. and a 20somthing year old got took the distance with her. If Laila was to be the best they had? Total disgrace of a sport, at least MMA females got some nice takedown and submissions.
I support women's boxing, and remember fondly the days of Christy Martin, but what are we going to do when a woman is beaten to death by a tranny, since they now let men who claim to be women compete as women in most sports? You can already find video's of women being thrashed in wrestling matches.
Yeah, no, **** the idea of trans males competing against biological females. That's the end of women's sport as we know it.
I thought the commentary, Rawlings and Jones I think, were indeed pathetic. Adams was listless and reactive throughout. Salinas made all the running, ignored the reach disadvantage and really got gibbed on the cards. Coming on the back of Taylor Persoon and the Jane Crouch revelations it's been a bleak period for women ps boxing.
Nothing against it to be honest and if people like it thats fine, but it did make me sad seeing women’s boxing headlining on HBO’s last boxing card.
They’re trying to create interest by forcefully creating stars for people to get behind, Taylor and Adams spring to mind. Female Anthony Joshua’s.
