All very recognisable names, now, Noel. I never would have thought it could happen and take off 5+ years ago. I was originally really against female boxing. Not just poo-pooing it, but I was a bit old fashioned in that I didn't like to see the fairer sex getting punched in the face. I don't mind now....
Katie taylor had a few dodgy decisions, being the cash cow in women's boxing. To me delfine persoon clearly won. But she doesn't have a similarly elegant style and the looks... I agree with mayer over baumgardner, since she was robbed in their fight. Really liked how mayer was fighting there. But recently haven't really seen a lot of interesting women's fights. Shield's fights were far from spectacular, taylor serrano was good and other than that there haven't been any interesting promotions? Did i miss something?
I was like that to start with. There were a lot of bad womens fights early in the game. Fights that had no place being promoted on cards where you knew it was going to be a low quality token offering to the gods of equality. Then it slowly got better. Some really good fighters bubbled to the top and we started to see some genuinely good fights The Taylor v Serrano trilogy was great, better than a lot of mens championship fights, despite Taylors scorecard gifts
Taylor vs Persoon 1, Delfine should of been DQd or had at least 10 points taken off. One of the dirtiest 10 round fights ive watched from a female boxer.
