I am now overlooked.I was a 16 year kid who won an olympic title. Turned
pro. and won a belt.Lost sight one eye in auto accident, retired soon after. My mgr. knocked cold the referee in my dressing room , because the ref held up my opponents hand by mistake. Who am I ?
P.S. hh, I know you have the answer...

Doug, you are correct..Jackie Fields it is..At 16 years old he won an Olympic title. Youngest ever. Fields turned pro then, and won a welterweight belt from Young Jack Thompson in 1929...In a bout with Young Corbett, the referee gave the bout to Corbett, even though the crowd thought Fields won the bout. The referee came to Fields dressing room to explain to Fields ,that he raised Corbett's hand by mistake, wheron
Fields mgr, Jack Kearns knocked the referee cold with a right hand..:hi:
