Where is "high altitude" in QLD? :huh

The peak of highest point barely scrapes over what it is considered "high altitude" for training purposes as far as I understand them.

The clue is in the name of boxers listed in the article that all come from the same town. Ive trained there once myself before, i think Sam Soliman has also, it takes you a couple of days just to get used to it because its 700 to 900 metres above sea level, they have high alt runs in the town also, usually these run on an anual basis.

Ive got a bad feeling about this one...Not that I think Choc will lose, I actually dont even think he will lose more than a single round, its just when you fight novices **** can happen because they dont know exactly what they are doing in there. They sort of move and position themselves for lack of a better word..wrong.. and when you are an experienced guy who is used to putting yourself in the right position and generally fighting guys that do aswell, it can spell disaster.

The way things have been going for Choc the last few years I could see a stray head or forearm cutting him...or a bullrushing Wood damaging Mundine's hands. Something setting back his career even further. Hope it doesnt but for some reason I feel it in my plums that something could go wrong in this one.

Agree with you Rock, and have thought a Mundine head wound a real possibility since this dog of a fight was first announced.

Wood's brawl with Vic Oganov in The Contender, though hard fought, did nothing for the sport. If the upcoming fight degenerates into a similar mess, Mundine may end up regretting what afteralll amounts to a total waste of time fight for him.

Obviously Garth wasnt supposed to win the Contender, he threw a spanner in the works...He deserves his shot but it is pretty farcical.

Yeah i think they were trying very hard to ensure Oganov would win. Just didnt turn out that way...

One of the biggest problems in this current era of padded records, protecting your zero and meaningless fringe titles - is that match-ups 'look good'.

Match-ups that ARE good, are scarce. Because they usually involve an element of risk. The aim instead seems to be for match-ups that 'look good'.

(bye and bye: Oganov is 30-4 not 40-4)

Wrong... Garth WAS meant to win the series. A farcical set-up of the highest proportions IMO. Garth and Mandy have been friends since childhood. Every bout in the contender series seem loaded and steering Garth towards a certain win.

Garth vs Kariuki in the final.. Garth rushed and clinched Kariuki something like 63 times.. no point deductions.. Garth, the softest choice to fight Mandy, gets the nod in the final. Now Garth drops to M/W after winning a series at SM/W...

    .... go figure.
