Woods is bringing it home. If Tarver can't play it pitty patter and cute, Woods is simply too tough over 12.
Good contest, quite even too. How good has tarver looked in his last 2 outings, has anyone seen them? Woods is a good solid pro with a typical northern toughness and work ethic. He doesnt do anything spectacularly, but then his all round game is good. It'll be a close one. When was the last time Woods' chin was tested? Surely tarver will land something at somepoint, it'll be interesting to see if Clinton keeps grinding forward should he be caught flush. To be fair to tarver his list of opponents was damned solid within the division for a while... Reggie Johnson Harding Griffin R.Jones R.Jones G. johnson G.Jonson R.Jones Hopkins
Clinton Woods is such a good chap- hope he wins... Never, ever makes a **** of himself and is a very honest pro.
Johnson, Gonzalez, Hoye and even RJJ have some serious chin checking ability. Woodsey can be hurt but I'm sure he is tough. Against Johnson I feel he exorcised his demons. I feel he mentally quite in the other fights. He just caved in and gave away rounds. In the third fight he showed that intestinal fortitude that real champs have. He's just a better all round fighter. He's fitter, he's more intelligent, his games better on the inside/outside and over a hard 12.
The biggest mistake Woods made was calling Warrens bluff over Calzaghe after he won the IBF crown, he was offered his biggest purse but "team woods" refused as they could attract the jones Jr's of this world. His career has stagnated and ground to a dissapointing crawl. A win over tarver should bring his name back to the fuore, but its no forgone conclusion. Antonio was embarrassed by Hopkins, granmted, but Woods is no Hopkins. Depends what tarver has left, at this point i reckon its a 50-50.
I like both fighters. Woods a solid pro and seems a very solid guy who doesn't need to keep telling us how he likes a pint and all that. Never understood why Tarver is so hated. Is it because he shattered Jones? Anyway, he looks done and that swings it to favouritism for Woods. I think he's the betting fave.
Thought Woods did really well to come back from a year out. Am glad he has got his moment in the spotlight after all his years in the sport - he deserves it. Comes across as an ordinary guy outside of the ring too - I will be rooting for him 100% against Tarver. Hopefully a convincing win will capture him more big fights.
Thinking about it Woods is probably the most humble and respectable of all our champions. I absolutely loved it when he did the Ali shuffle against jones.
Clinton is the absolute definition of an 'honest pro'. I agree with Jeffs comment that he is the most humble and respectable champ we have. I will certainly be cheering him on against Tarver. I haven't seen Tarvers outings since Hopkins so I don't know how he has looked recently, but he was extremely lacklustre against Bernard. On the basis of that fight, I think Clinton will take this in a relatively comfortable points decision.
I have a nasty feeling that the winner gets Calzaghe. I hope Tarver wins, if only to stop Joe fighting woods which is a fight I couldn't care less about.
Great to see Woods and Tarver made. Very good fight and hopefully the winner will get the winner of JC and Hopkins. I would have to edge towards Woods to win, maybe by late ko but if it goes to decision it could be nasty over there yankside.
Like everyone else I'm happy for Woods and want him to win. I reckon he will do him on points in a tough one.
