Its not fight footage. Its of him boxing as an extra in an old silent film. Still pretty neat.

I confirmed it. A couple of years ago I found an old advertising still with a photo of Roper and the star in a boxing pose together with a caption listed below it identifying the two. Roper was never listed in the credits and the film is hard to get ahold of but I got a copy yesterday and watched it and sure enough its him. Its pretty cool. He fights out of a crouch, leaning to one side, kind of like Jeffries.

Was Captain Bob the first to proudly blaze the pirate skull n bones logo in the ring,Did Homicide Henry copy him?

Might be the only man to trade real blows with Jack Johnson,Harry Greb,Tommy Gibbons & brawled with Jim Jeffries outside a courtroom in 1930

Captain Bob himself in action here as The Mute Brute with plenty of screen time in Under Texas Skies from 1930.He certainly looks a lunatic,One report has him doing a runner from the Jeffries fight

Cant tell if he lost a lot of weight by 1939,Anyone know if its him working the corner for his brother Jack vs Joe Louis
