...........We all have them; that one word or phrase that just bugs you when you read through some of these threads.

So let's air it out. What ails ya?

    I'll begin:

"Robbed." - Prolific use of this word is a sign of laziness, and an indication that the poster tends to merely regurgitate information they read somewhere rather than really knowing the subject matter. I look sideways :)blood ) at posters that are too liberal with this word.

"Prime." - Again, this one has its place in some circumstances; and I realize this is just a pet peeve of mine resulting in little more than a rant, but I despise threads that read: "Who would win, prime-for-prime?"

    .........There, that feels better. :D

I might think up a few more later depending on how bitchy I feel, but feel free to fill in the blanks.........

.............Really? I hadn't noticed you doing that. You're a top poster, methinks.

Yeah, I agree with Sanchez that the words like "robbed" and "gift" are over applied on these forums. They seem to particularly come into play everytime a fight was ruled as a split or majority decision, that just didn't go the way someone wanted it to go, usually for the purpose of better suiting some debate.

......... No worries, it's my own cross to bear, I know. Especially here in the Classic Forum, you're right, you almost have to use the word.

It's not that I hate it being used, I don't like how they are so often being used out of context.

"Robbed" should be a case like Coggi-Gonzalez I, Holyfield-Lewis I, Escalera-Everett, but it's used by just about anyone who disagrees with a decision, and then you ask them their scorecard and they have it 115-114.

"Ducked". This is used whenever someone doesn't fight another fighter in their weight class of note. You can't fight everyone.

The one that is used WWAAYYY too much is "calling out". It's like people are little kids in 5th grade lunch. "Ooooohhh, so and so is calling out so and so. He must really want to fight him and the other guy is scared because he isn't fighting him". Grow up. It means little. When you get down to negotiations, then it means something.

Fighter A has been a champ, p4p fighter, beating high quality fighters for a good number of years.

Fighter B beats Fighter A by exploiting his weaknesses to the fullest.

    Boxing message board clowns:

    "Fighter A was EXPOSED!!!!!!!!!!!"

...............Oh god; good one! I hate that one even more than mine! Of course, this one is used more in the playpen known as the General Forum, not by people that know something about boxing.

I agree, anytime it was a close fight, it was a gift decision where someone was robbed.

I hate it when people say "Knocked out" when it's a TKO. They are two very different things.
