How many medals does team GB expect to win at these games? Doesn't seem to be as much discussion on the Brit thread compared to the Euro thread about it although I could have missed a few threads..

We had a clean sweep today :happy

    2kg: Khalid Yafai v Katsuaki Susa (Japan) - last 32, 2nd October 28:16

Khalid's boxed within himself in his first bout of the tournament, but still racked up a mighty 28 points to defeat the Japanese boxer. Edging ahead 7-6 in the first, Kal took control thereafter scoring with a range of blows against his game opponent. The result was never in doubt as Khalid progresses into the last 16.

    52kg: Andrew Selby v Severiane Chiladze (Georgia) - last 32, 2nd October 26:7

Andrew became the second 52kg GB boxer to make it into the last 16 of the Championships with another accomplished display against the Georgian boxer. Racing to a quick 7:2 lead, Andrew mounted up the points in the final two rounds throwing multiple combinations and using his movement to avoid the Georgian. The final score of 26-7 reflected the Splott ABC man's superiority.

60kg: Tom Stalker v Brice Romaric Bassole (Burkina Faso) - last 32, 2nd October, 13:3

It was a comfortable passage to the last 16 for Tom, boxing well to eliminate the west African who had won Burkina Faso's first ever boiut at a World Championships in the previous round. In a quiet first, few punches were exchanged but the Liverpudlian did enough to move into a 3-0 lead. Moving up a gear in the second and working behind the jab, the scoring accelerated to move the score on to 10-1. Steady work in the last resulted in a final tally of 13 points to 3. Tom meets the Russian Alexander Solyanikov for a place in the London Olympic Games.

91kg+: Anthony Joshua v Juan Isidro Hiracheta (Mexico) - last 32, 2nd October RET 7:1

The bout lasted precisely one minute and 47 seconds before the Mexican's coach threw in the towel after the Finchley man had already dished out two standing counts following some heavy-handed hitting. Big Josh goes into the last 16 where he will meet the Moroccan who eliminated the Russian super-heavy in the preceding bout.

    69kg: Fred Evans v Chun Sil Kim (Seoul) - last 32, 2nd October 17:8

In the final bout of the day, Fred overcame the awkward Korean to seal his place in the last 16. Down by a score of 3:2 at the end of the first round, Fred kept his composure boxing in assured and patient fashion and maximising his opportunities as they arised. A series of clinic straight shots combined with power put paid to the Korean's Championship hope, whilst Fred moved into a bout against Germany for a place at the London Olympic Games.
