Yeah but that's irrelevant....for the 168 division will have to give Smith his props....he been hanging around them world title challenger spot for a while....this tournament gave him the chance to do so.....and this tournament is the type that can give fighters who don't have big profiles or big promoters etc a chance to make good money and claim to be the best in their division

The tournament pays well....so title holders...big names who don't enter....either don't wanna fight regular...Don't wanna risk...or their promoters don't wanna let them fight in it....which is all understandable....but if u don't wanna enter the WBSS and only wanna fight once a year....Don't claim to be the top guy....cause chances are most of the top challengers will be in that tourney...even more so going forward

I didn't lose anything, you seem to think I had money on this bout.

Why does Uzcategui get so much hype?
He beat a washed up Dirrell? I think Smith would crush him tbh, levels.

Benavidez is way too green to be a threat. His long range game is weak and he's too hittable. He has very good combination punching on the inside but I doubt he could get the fight to that range.

Gilberto is a legit threat though, great chin and a bit of a warrior. I think his skill set and pressure, would cause Smith problems. He throws a lot of leather, and has a bit of awkwardness about him. I think his toughness and work rate could win him a few rounds and if it goes to the cards he will have a chance.

I actually blame the picking league and have been meaning to bring this up with @kirk for a while. I know it has a lot of tradition behind it and everything but a) he isn't even really involved much anymore with his eponymous league and b) he founded it to be a first and foremost light-hearted and fun thing. What it has evolved into has less to do with "fun" and more to do with status in an insular clique, and it also clouds everybody's objectivity by giving them rooting interests where they otherwise might not. It also causes people to feign genuine interest where some more obscure cards are concerned, but it soon becomes apparent that interest runs no more than skin deep with everything circling back to a picks related agenda.

I think maybe 2018 ought to be the last Kirk's thread, idk. :nusenuse:

Feels like it has become a disruptive and divisive element on here.

It shouldn't matter if you have a 'Long history' with a member.....

Does that mean you also don't ban those who break the rules because you have a positive 'Long history' with them?

It's the perfect ammunition for those with tiny ego's and the inability to impartially enjoy something. They hang their hat on one side or the other and things fall apart accordingly to everyone that has to listen to the crying

It’s friday night who gets so upset on Friday?

Anyways Smith looked huge in there. Groves fought a poor fight and panicked when he should have been disciplined

More backpeddling from the moral relativist snake in the grass. I don't view myself as a SJW of anything, its called having common decency, something you lack.

You're right, I have no concept of the sports history, and? I never said I did, did I? Most fans don't because they weren't alive in the 1920's and neither were you. Good for you, you read a lot of books and I don't, I prefer to live in the here and now, and ever pretended otherwise/

I like both fighters and wasn't favouring either to win.

    I scored it:
    1st - 10-9 Groves
    2nd - 10-9 Groves
    3rd - 9 -10 Smith
    4th - 10-9 Groves
    5th - 10-9 Groves
    6th - 9 -10 Smith
    7th - KO win Smith

Smith should look to unify this weak SMW divison now that he has beaten Groves and Degale is in decline.

Telling how the biggest compliment anyone can muster for the newly crowned number one super middleweight is on his size.

Nobody's in here espousing his technical skills, his intelligent pressure, his defense on the frontfoot, his punch selection or placement...

That's because he isn't 1/1000th the fighter the other Ali Trophy recipient is.

    SMW in 2018 = bumsville

Flipping hec their goal deserved to win a game. But think we were by far the better side and a great goal and a lastter half domination has kept me happy. Wouldn't mind a win next like! #MOT

We don't have a long history! Less than a year ago we sending friendly PM's to each other!

However I assume this is the very closest I will get to an apology so I will gracefully accept it and in return I shall ignore you and never again quote one of your posts.

I do have a complex about getting the last word in though so please don't quote this otherwise I'll be forced to reply, a bit like that kid in class who repeatedly says "ok" to end the convo.

    Peace out.
