Ladbrokes offering odds on a selection of fighters to be world champion by 31/12/2022. The following caught my eye: Michael Conlan – 3/1. Looks like set to fight Lopez at home in April/May. Richard Riakporhe – 5/2. Again seems likely to get a world title shot and every chance Boxxer ensure it is a home challenge. Chris Billam Smith (11/4), Sandy Ryan (2/1), Ellie Scotney (5/6) and Shannon Courtney (11/10) all interesting also.
Can definitely see conlan winning and if okolie moves up to heavyweight then those belts are definitely there for riakporhe and smith to win.
I feel like RR and CBS are short of world level so their best chance is to win a title while it's vacant rather than go up against the likes of the Okoliesaurus.
Wouldnt pick either to beat Okolie either but a Badou Jack or vacant title would be very winable. Just a case of will it happen in 2023?
Billam-Smith, Ryan and Scotney all became world champions this year. Riakporhe was unlucky that Goulamirian had legal issues or otherwise he would have became a world champion too.
Enjoy how the quota of women champions is growing in this list. It’s as if promoters want “world champions” which mean as much as winning the school sports, just to make cards sound better, without spending as much… knowing fine the mainstream media will cover them for sure
Women’s boxing in the UK is doing its absolute best to kill the sport. It’s killing the atmosphere on fight nights as it is. All the talk of them wanting equal pay will come true….everyone will be getting sod all. It’ll be a huge shame if Sky pull out of boxing but Boxxer and Shalom have no one to blame than themselves.
It does subdue the atmosphere especially since a lot of the chief supports are not competitive and last the full 10. The exception is a lot of Katie Taylor fights and I'm looking forward to Cameron vs Taylor II on November 25.
Comon mate Miss Tippy v Miss Tappy is going to be a 20 min ticklefest with Miss Tappy winning again. The masses of boxing fans think it is simply Angel Delight and there should be separate female only cards on BBC3/ITV4 for people who want to watch it. They would get paid what they deserve in terms of the audiience levels and income generated so should have no complaints.
Taylor vs Cameron had a bigger gate than Haney vs Lomachenko. The ticket prices were more expensive than the last couple of Joshua fights. Taylor is a huge star and a much bigger star than Josh Taylor.
