Might or might not. It depends what you were after. I think you're asking who the most modest, polite fighters were who remained in touch with reality despite their enormous success and physical competence. In that case, most of the answers given here are good.

On the other hand, you might be talking about self-mediation and reality. This is an absolutely fascinating question. Think of someone like Mike Tyson who seemed to believe himself by turns an invincible "conquered" who could not be beaten and and crippled by worthlessness and self doubt. A true, a true self confliction. Carl Froch would be another good example.

Thing is though, if it's this more interesting question, reality, self mediation in the professional combat sportsmen of history, most of the answers in this thread are atrocious. Someone like Jofre would have a "huge" ego by our own standards in that he legitimately would expect to thrash all of his peers.

Although Roman's reaction to finding himself entirely on the wrong side of history was fascinating. He seemed genuinely distressed but absolutely incapable of altering his behavior. I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt and name it loyalty.

I think Ward was some way short of world class.

Don't confuse being humble, with not having an ego.

That is like confusing politeness, with weakness.

Some people can afford to be humble!

Another one that may surprise you is Sonny Liston being a very humble person not sure on the ego but he was very humble, so was Joe Fraizer.
