Care to post the highlight reel you are talking about? Most of the ones I have seen Jones is destroying future hall of famers, world champions and world contenders. I don't know who the roadsweepers and bin min are.

 

I don't see what is so shameful about that video... Collins wanting to come out of retirement to fight Roy? did HBO even want the fight then?

They also showed possible future Jones opponents that HBO wanted to see him fight, he went on to beat 2 in his next 2 fights, Hopkins he already beat and wouldn't take 60-40 to get his ass kicked... That leaves only DM and retired Collins.

 

Collins has been hiding in England fighting bums, his record doesn't lie. When he was offered a career high payday by Jones back when it mattered he turned it down like a coward.

Collins is Irish, and was based in the u.s for most of his career. Jones was offered the fight by Collins, not the other way around. You are a twat and a ****.

Collins and the rest of the britt pack cant hold Roys jockstrap.They were all good fighter but Roy was a boxing God.

BOXING: NO CALZAGHE, NO ROY JONES, Collins must prove himself to Americans.


STEVE COLLINS is ready to play a waiting game and fight Joe Calzaghe, if he is to realise his dream of taking on Roy Jones.

It is believed that Collins is currently negotiating a warm-up bout and is close to agreeing terms with promoter Frank ****** to meet the WBO champion Calzaghe later this year.

The Welsh born unbeaten champion (26-0), who took Collins' vacated belt when the Dubliner retired almost two years ago, has been asking Collins to make his comeback for some time.

Calzaghe had been lined up to fight Collins while he was champion but his retirement was followed by cries from the current champion, that Collins was running scared.

Yesterday Collins' hopes of meeting Roy Jones, considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, were dashed by Home Box Office chief Lou Di Bella.

The television network, which holds the rights to cover all Jones fights, and has a major say in who he fights, claim that Jones will be meeting IBF light-heavyweight champion Reggie Johnson, before any talk of Collins will be considered.

Collins' representatives have been aiming to secure an April or May shot at Jones' WBC and WBA light-heavyweight belts.

But a unification showdown with Johnson appears more profitable for both fighter and HBO.

Collins hasn't fought for 18 months and always insisted that he would not come out of retirement unless Roy Jones was available.

Lou Di Bella said yesterday: "I haven't heard Steve's name mentioned in weeks. I think Reggie Johnson, the IBF champion, is the favourite to face Jones in May."

HBO and Sky had discussed a financial purse to put together Collins-Jones.

But Di Bella added: "Sky haven't heard anything recently about Steve either. I would like to see him fight Joe Calzaghe with the winner meeting Jones. At the moment Reggie Johnson is a bigger fight for Jones - it would unify the division."

Collins then may have to wait until later this year, due to the injury lay-off which currently keeps Calzaghe out of action.

The champion has been hampered by hand and elbow injuries since winning the title and in the aftermath of his recent defence against Robin Reid, he complained of elbow pain.

He has been told to rest while contemplating his next opponent, one of which could be Robin Reid, who seeks a rematch.

Calzaghe defeated Reid last month on a split decision and would much prefer to meet Collins - the man he has sought since becoming champion.

If Collins accepts, he will take on a warm-up bout before any possible chance of regaining the WBO title.

Calzaghe was ordered to take a six-month rest from ring action after beating Reid.

Prior to his fight with Reid, in a Sky TV interview, Calzaghe offered Collins a chance to meet him in a winner takes all bout, a title eliminator with the champion facing Jones.

Collins retorted, saying that he didn't want to consider any other option other than a return to fight Jones.

Roy Jones has yet to fight outside the US and according to stateside reports, is having a difficult time finding an opponent which will attract his massive audience.

Reggie Johnson is now seen as the man who can bring about a renewed confidence in Jones from the American audience.

Johnson retained his IBF light-heavyweight crown last Saturday night with a unanimous decision but was forced to survive a 12th round knockdown at the Miccosukee Indian Gaming venue.

The American took his career record to 39-5-1 and is currently ranked at number three in the light-heavyweight division.


Collins is neither ranked at super-middleweight or light-heavyweight.

Jones offered him a career high payday and Collins turned it down? Like a bum? Are you sure you know what your talking about? Collins spent his whole career chasing Jones and no offer was ever made. Where did you even hear that??
