No surprises there. That Thai silver medalist is 36 years old.

They actually had a good team full of young fighters, but the experience could be a factor.

Actually they are very poor, it is similar to the 2012 team

Stevenson looks very good but is unproven at top level senior international level, and is in probably the strongest division.. Conlan, Ramirez, Nikitin, Asenau, etc.

Balderas was very lucky to qualify, and wasn't impressive in WSB, Hernandez and Conwell look poor.

Russell is yet to qualify but I expect hm to, he's quite good but his form shows he loses to the top tier guys, he'll make a better pro

Are you getting them mixed up with another team? lol

I think you are pretty correct but Vargas is good IMO.

Vargas and Stevenson are medal possibitlies but vargas has a few losses and Stevenson hasn't faced the best after that there's not much

Hope Gardiner qualifies at super heavy

Gardiner has a good shot, he should beat Zavatin and he's beaten Guido Vianello before as well as lost to him. Moore is somewhat of a wild card, he was awful at the Americas qualifier but seems to be better than that showing.

True and the middleweight they have has potential

So altogether they have one medal contender , one outside chance medal contender and not much else

In the America's qualifier Stevenson beat the 2012 Olympian Albert Melian so comprehensively that it was hard to look by the end. It was a wall-to-wall pasting.

Albert Melian beat 2012 gold medalist 3-0 in the first round of that same tournament. I'm fully satisfied that Stevenson is proven in the international level.

Balderas (age 19) was 6-1 in WSB, his lone loss to Selimov. So what on earth are you talking about?

Conwell is excellent. He won the America's qualifier and is 2-0 in WSB. He's 18 years old, moreover.

Antonio Vargas (19) won the PanAm games over Yosbany Vietia. Vargas is superb. He's yet to lose around at the current qualifier.

Russell (20) is talented and improving.

Most of the Americans win some fights at the lower levels of qualifying tournaments, then after that they start dropping off. Once the Olympics come there certainly aren't as many lower levels clogging up the field, especially this year with all the harder qualification process. The Americas qualifier is quite poor in a lot of divisions

Vargas and Stevenson are head and shoulders above the rest of the Americans and even they aren't shoe-ins for medals, Vargas lost his first fight at Americas qualifiers even though it was kinda controversial but that's how it goes.

Esquivel and Kroll are out of the World qualifier and have one last shot in Venezuela, don't think Esquivel makes it, Kroll maybe, depending on who else goes to that tournament. Awesome has no chance.

talent scout Vyaschlev, in in his 46th reincarnation, disagrees with you. He thinks the middleweight is "poor".
