Fairytale over but he did himself and Ireland proud. 3-0, 28-29 all-round. Fair scoring.

For the 56kg invitation spot I'm hoping they invite Boe Warawara from Vanuatu, he looked good at World Championships and got robbed against Erseker from Qatar who seems to get gifts over everyone. Warawara wasn't even at any of the qualifiers presumably due to lack of funding

I don't think Moore is even eligible for the last qualifier, he only has one WSB fight. And Awesome certainly isn't winning it

Even if there was a invitational at 52kg they wouldn't send David, they would send some completely useless bum

Joe ward was the reigning European champion, lost a bad decision on count back at the world champion ships that would have qualified him for the Olympics, he then got completely shafted in turkey at a qualifier fighting a Turk where he lost 18-15 when video evidence showed him out landing the Turk 35-15. And he applied for that invitational and didn't get it, they gave it to some guy from Montenegro .

Ward was 18 and had beat 3 out of the 4 guys who medaled in london as well as easily beating the gold medalist mekhontsev

Ward qualified by making it to the final at the World Championships... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing_at_the_2016_Summer_Olympics_–_Qualification

It has got better but there is probably one guy at every weight that could medal but missed out, except 91+
