    Early knockouts are relatively uncommon in world title fights, because the fighters at the top are more or less at the same level. Sometimes, however, the title changes hands by first round knockout. What fights had this happen?

    * George Chip lost the middleweight championship to Al McCoy in 1914
    * Young Corbett III lost the welterweight championship to Jimmy McLarnin by first round stoppage in the early 30;s.

    Roger Mayweather lost his 130lbs title in the 1st round against Rocky Lockridge.
    Vic Toweel lost his BW crown to Jimmy Carruthers by ko in the opening round.
    Jamie McDonnell lost his BW title in the 1st round against Naoya Inoue.

    Jamie McDonnell vs. Naoya Inoue was crazy. McDonnell was a welterweight on the night (think he was 148) and Inoue literally beat that ass from pillar to pillar.
