This 'best fighter is who you face' argument doesnt convince me. Karl Taylor's fought witter, hatton (both), brook, john murray, jennings, olusegan etc etc etc that make him Britains best?? How about the Boogieman Jesse Feguson his records a who's who of top level heavyweights- you got Bowe, Tyson, McCall, our Frank, Holmes and beating Buster Douglas must put him as an atg...

You cant put fighting a good guy and LOSING over beating an average guy for example. And more to the point, everyone bar Cazaghe and Floyd lost to people they should of beaten and that is as big no-no for me as thinking Floyd's a top fighter is on this forum is apparently.

Best boxer as theuzi says- absolutely. You dont see how good a fighter he is coz he's too ****ing good and smart to get into a scrap. You lot think says he's record aint great but he makes good fighters look ordinary and never has a bad night. That over 11 years is impressive, even pac has only sustained it for less than half of that.

Come on mate, that first paragraph is twisting it. No one (I hope!!) is saying its the best fighter whether its win or lose. Just that loses to decent fighters needn't rank a fighter below one that hasn't fought to that level and so doesn't have those loses.

(I'm not taking sides, its too late at night, just explaining the argument)

Nah its cool Gaz, aint about sides its good to debate something that dont involve amir khans chin.

Its a valid point though theres a lot of mentioning of opposition rather than wins, so i can lose a few of these birthday lbs fight pacquaio, margarito (i have a better chance of fighting in the u.s!) berto, cotto etc get my ass kicked in a noble fashion and my record stands better than Mayweathers?

Pacs the man of the moment he's fresh in our minds but he beat fresher versions of de la hoya and hatton, unbeaten and pre-castillo wars corrales, Judah back when he was super and the aforementioned Mexican great before he went on to beat a lot of good fighters. And yes like manny he does have a lot of good fighters on his record to add, something which Calzaghe's record cannot compete with.

Im all for slating guys who go through thier whole career not fighting enough live opponents but there's plenty that Floyd not only fought but BEAT to say he's in with a good claim in this poll

    floyd mayweather

    just top dog isn't he.

his speed and great defence has been a winning formula all the way.

just a shame his ego is getting in the way of the pac fight. :patsch

and he goes into these long periods of doing f*ck all.

I went with Floyd. Whilst Pac has a (w) next to his name on record for both fights against Marquez in my view he lost both and lost to an ageing Morrales.

Pac is a great fighter and the best active fighter to watch but Mayweather has the likes of a younger 154lbs ODLH, Prime Castillo and Corrales, Judah and the unbeaten version of Hatton which was a different fighter and not to mention Shane Mosley who whilst old is still better than given credit for
