Couture is 1/6 good indication of how things should go

 

Thing is Flint, Couture was an Olympic level wrestler who has kept up with the sport whereas Toney wrestled a bit in High School over 20 years ago. Massive difference.

I'll give you that Toney is probably a better football player and drug dealer than Couture but I'm not sure how well these skills will transfer over into the Octagon.

 

Yep, the "Boxing vs. UFC" PR angle is predictable but not really fair when the fight is taking place under UFC rules.

And my two-cents on Roy/Floyd: Roys resume is better.

 

Toney's fed himself to the wolves, not been in a good boxing fight for years and like the shrewed self promoter he is saw a good opportunity financially. Trouble is, even though I dont buy he's only had MMA training for 3 months even if he's had it a couple of years which is also unlikely he's still decades behind Randy Couture. The term 'Puncher's Chance' has never been more appropriate.

Also with regards to the wrestling White Tiger brought up, the difference between NCAA (collegiate) division 1 and 2 is massive then you get the ultra elite going to the olympics or those chasing money going to WWE. So Toney's high school experience is nothing compared to what Couture's achieved in wrestling. Plus you have mixed martial artists that have trained since their teens and are unable to defend takedowns against the elite wrestlers, just look at how easily Chael Sonnen took down lb for lb best/2nd best fighter Anderson Silva. It aint a fall gone conclusion but its highly likely the smart UFC hall of famer will GnP TKO 1 but it wont have a big impact on our sport as much as White would talk it up.
