Wut? Jacobs is one of the top 3 middleweights in the world, fighting the top middleweight in the world. Yes, he could feasibly get knocked out, but I don't understand the hyperbolic prediction of doom in the OP, with the expectation of a flatline kayo. Think about all the guys Canelo HASN'T flatlined in traumatizing fashion: Lara, Trout, N'Dou, Mosely, Cotto, Chavez Jr. GGG (*2), MATTHEW HATTON... Maybe I'm overestimated Jacobs, but I think Jacobs is skilled and very dangerous. He has proven credentials and obvious talent. That's why I'm hyped as **** for this fight. If Canelo wins, the benefit to his historical legacy is huge. Wins over GGG & Jacobs + his back to back to back to back wins over Lara, Cotto, Kirkland, & Angulo are a big part of why I think he is swiftly emerging as a guy who could crash the Mexican GOAT rankings, putting himself alongside JCC, JMM, Zarate, Olivares, Canto & Finito. He might already be on par with some of those guys.
There’s not a chance Canelo stops Jacobs. This isn’t Amir Khan. Canelo is great to watch but he isn’t the puncher in this match up.
GGG didn’t hurt him. Everyone is hittable, so is Canelo. Canelo has never fought anyone as naturally big and skilled as Jacobs is.
You’re not overestimating Jacobs at all. I have him as the favourite, this would be a huge win for Canelo. I think it’s unlikey tbh. Jacobs can move, if he boxes Canelo it’s not going to be close. The problem with Jacobs is that he sometimes likes to stand and throw combinations, he fights when he doesn’t have to. I think both guys are a similar style, and Jacobs has the physical advantages. If Jacobs sticks and moves then Canelo will never get close enough, and I don’t think Canelo can hurt him.
He is just a better boxer. Jacobs will have most success on the inside with his flurries. Other than that, i don't see him having too much success. Canelo will be pressuring and feinting, just like he did in his last two fights. Jacob's doesn't really know what to do with feints. He knows to feint and throw a punch, but he doesn't seem to get what the feint is really there for. (it's primary use should be to get a read on your opponent, not to hide a punch)
Lol Really?? Ggg might be more powerful but Canelo is faster and more accurate with his punches, did you actually see how Jacbos went down from a counter from Mora? Imagine him getting caught by the master counter puncher and stronger Canelo
People forget that Jacobs got beaten by Sulecki and look lost for a few rounds. Even with the lucky knockdown at the end, Jacobs did not win and many people agree. Canelo will stop Jacobs within a few rounds because he hits much harder than Sulecki.
Worried for Jacobs' health? He's an elite fighter, I think he knows how to protect himself otherwise he wouldn't be in there. Jacobs has fired up Canelo and it's all part of the game plan. He's hoping Canelo scraps his plan and comes forward. That plays into Jacobs' hands because of his long rangy jab. I think that may have been an indication from Jacobs at the weigh in that he wants to box Canelo rather than have a tear-up. The crucial thing for Jacobs here is to avoid the body shots as Canelo's body shots are brutal if they land clean. I think a war suits Canelo, and Jacobs must know that. That's why he created all that anger at the weigh in. I'm still going by what I thought a week or two ago. Jacobs wins by one or two rounds in the eyes of the media and fans, but loses on the official cards by Canelo robbery as usual. As Eddie said (And I totally agree), Jacobs needs to win this comfortably to get the decision. If he doesn't have at least 3 rounds on Canelo by the end of the fight, he loses. I don't think Jacobs is quite good enough to go 3 or more in front.
