Ha! I seen Canelo said that in the interview. The one that loses the mental edge usually says something like that to project on to the other. Jacobs looked fired up, think that got Canelo a bit on the back foot, deflecting it onto Jacobs. Wilder did the same thing to Fury, say he was nervous while fumbling his words and looking like a rabbit in the headlights.
That’s not how it works, the Latin Snake Sergio Mora hurt him worse than GGG. Jacobs is vulnerable to a good counterpuncher which GGG isn’t.
They both had a similar fight against GGG. Jacobs beat Dev., that’s a better win than anything Canelo has. I see them on the same level. We’ll see.
jacobs is established world class with three attempt sat title level, and one of them successful (by a hairs margin mind you). So he should be fine against an elite LMW.
The odds on a stoppage by Canelo are decent. Threw down 40 but i reckon it will go to the cards since Jacobs will likely use a lot of movement. Canelo can be flat against good movers. Might even see an upset if Jacobs can successfully hit n move for the 12 rounds. It won't surprise me if he pulls it off.
Canelo will go easy on Jacobs and carry him to the 12th round decision, just like Canelo did to Cotto. Canelo could KO Jacobs early, but wont because Canelo was bribed to go easy on Jacobs, so as to not embarrass the african-american boxing community (on 5 de Mayo weekend festivities) with a brutal KO of one of their own. Just like Vitali was bribed to go the distance against many african-american HW's, when he couldve KO'd them but was asked not to do so in excahange for extra $$$$ under the table. Mikey Garcia was also bribed to go easy on Spence Jr. and not KO him in exhange for extra $$$$ under the table. That's why Canelo and Jacobs had that staged/fixed fiasco at the weigh in to make fans think that Canelo will fight hard, when all along Canelo will go easy in Jacobs and fight a boring 12 round decision, like always. and this recent, Jacobs rehydration clause violation is another distraction tactic to fool the fans into thinking that they will see a "real" fight when what they're going to see is a staged fake performance from Canelo against Jacobs with a soft reluctance performance from Canel going easy onJacobs. .
That doesn't suit him at all. He will want to play his usual slow, plodding counter-punching thing and instead lure Jacobs into a firefight. If he comes forward, Jacobs' jab is gonna really get on his nerves and if he tries landing shots to the body he'll be vulnerable to that long jab. He needs Jacobs to come to him, not the other way around. Canelo will want to take the jab out of the equation as much as possible and make it a war up close where he can land body shots more easily.
