I'd face Tyson before I'd fight Joe. Joe's punches often result in long term damage. Many of the guys he fought are currently in bad shape. I've heard about people urinating blood after fighting with Joe, and suffering severe cuts and bruises. Frazier's body punching and left hooks were no joke. As For Tyson, he had the power to put you to sleep with one punch, but your health would be still fine 35 years later. Tyson's punches were a nightmare just for one nite in the ring, but Frazier's punches would be a nightmare for the rest of your life. You'd still feel them 20 years on.
Yeah, no one ever beat Quarry worse then Joe did... "Stop the fight Joe! (Joe Louis that is, he was the ref) **** will give you nightmares. What other fighters did he give long term damage? I know he helped break Chuvalo's face, and then there's Ali.
Jerry Quarry wasn't in good shape at all during his twilight years. Frazier hurt him badly in their two fights. Jimmy Ellis is also severely punch drunk these days.
I think these post probably belong in the general forum. What does a **** conviction have to do with anything?
It would be about equal. Even though tyson has two guns and frazier only one, frazier pretty much evens up the worry meter with his never say die aggression. Tyson is the superior fighter but it's something to be said about a fighter who kept coming regardless of how many times he was hit. To fight frazier was downright discouraging and his opponents knew that they were in for a long night.
Here's the thing Frazier's never say die aggression was largely a result of his limitations as a fighter. When Tyson pounced on his opponents he usually got the job done quicker than Joe for high calibre opponents and low calibre opponents. For Tyson was about as relentless as an opponent of his calibre could be. His physical gifts never forced to him to be an attrition fighter and as a result he never really fought that way. Frazier on the other hand needed to fight that way because he was unable to do to his opponents what Tyson did to his. Which is why when it comes to the question of this thread the answer should be unequivocally Mike Tyson. If given the choice of facing an undefeated Tyson or an undefeated Frazier, thinking of things in foresight and not hindsight I can't possibly conceivably see how Frazier would be more intimidating.
I'd face Frazier before Tyson. Simpily because Frazier is more beatable than Tyson and my goal is to win. Tyson can be frustrated or so says those who pick against him in prime for prime match ups and point to certan fights mostly Bone Crusher Smith as their evdance but look at the score cards of the smith fight or anyother fight that a prime Tyson was "frustraed" in. Yea I know scorecards don't tell the whole story but they say enough espicialy in regaurds to my chances of wining. Even in the only loss that anyone can with any reason say took place in his prime the loss to James Buster Douglas. Tyson trailed on only one scorecard 82-88 at the time of the stoppage. He was up 87-86 on one and even at 86-86 on the other. In theory if Tyson had beat the count and won the next two rounds the score of the fight would have been 110-116, 115-114 114-114, and Tyson would have retained his championship with the draw. Frazier is slightly taller and has a slightly longer reach but not enough of an advantage in either for me to chose to face Tyson over him. However in terms of weight Tyson is bigger. Frazier has more hart than Tyson, but what dose this mean? It seames to me that it means that Farzier will be easier to hit than Tyson. Depending on my style I can see myself stopping Frazier in the early to mid rounds or wining a decision with a few rough spots. If I am a stand in front of you puncher with an exlent chin and willing to hold when I needed to I have an outside chance of scoreing a late round stopage win over Tyson. If I am anything else I can look forward to a short night as another victom of Tyson's or at best a "Moral Victory" in which I can take pride in going the destaance and perhapps frustrating Tyson, but in reality it would be a lopsided loss. I will take the real win over the Moral Victory any day.
