Roids or no roids we already know mosley can fight. He beat delahoya without roids the first time. Margarito on the other hand we dont know how well he fights without plaster. Mosley is already a talented boxer, margarito on the other hand is not so special. He can take a punch but pretty much he's not so special. He aint fast or have good defense. He is just one tough dude who has bricks in his gloves.
No contest Cantina Margarita. Shane said he did not know it at the time and polygraph's backed his story, so it was accidental. Plus, he was a world-class fighter before and still is now in much older age. Margarita put bricks in his gloves....which could kill an opponent. As far as quality goes, he has never been a quality fighter. He has worked hard in the ring, but his skills have never been much. He lied about using the bricks, which is impossible for him not to know they used in his hands. So not only is he a cheater, but also a liar. Thats why its worse.
Well they're both bad, and I never buy into the "roids/EPO don't make much of a difference because they don't give you skills" bull****. So they don't make an unskilled guy a skilled boxer, they still give you an advantage that's against the rules. EPO helps your stamina which means you can do more damage to your opponent if you have more energy. Steroids allow you to train harder and longer, which improves your muscle memory. Why do you think people take illegal PEDs? To perform better. What happens when you perform better in boxing? Your opponent usually takes more punishment. People shouldn't downplay the use of steroids and EPO (which Margaret Goodman called "the perfect drug for boxing"). That being said, there's something that just seems more savage and troublesome about loading your gloves. Maybe it's the fact that there's known history of tragic results of glove tampering, or the fact that I sort of think steroid and other illegal PED use is just widespread in all sports. But make no mistake, I believe both are cheaters and don't buy into the "I didn't know what I was taking" argument.
Margarito-you could tell his bravado was gone when he walked into ring knowing that his bag of tricks were exposed by Nazim.
First time I've ever heard of an athlete being let off for steroid use because he claimed he didn't know he was taking steroids He's just lucky he was never caught with traces of it in his blood, otherwise no matter how many polygraph tests he was able to pass, he would have been punished for taking a banned substance. There is a lot of controversy around Margo's situation - nothing concrete (no pun intended) came from the commission as to exactly what was in his gloves. In fact, it all seemed to get hushed up, due to the fact the chain of evidence was so badly ****ed by the official present, I suspect. They both cheated i.e. broke the rules - anyone who says steroids wouldn't help a boxer, or that they would rather be punched in the head by someone on steroids than someone with bricks in their gloves are basically sensationalising what was actually found in Margo's gloves and giving Mosley a free pass.
The worst stretch of Shane's career was when he bulked up. Steroids hurt him a lot more than they helped him, because he lost his fluidity and speed. When he slimmed down again was when he experienced a resurgence
