With Mayweather looking to tie Rocky's undefeated Champion run, he's picking what is largely considered his plumpest cherry in 9 yrs, ie Baldomir.

However, Wlad's had some cherries himself, whether enforced mandates ie Leapei, or over-the-hill little men, ie Mormeck.

That said, the winner of tonights fight between 2 likely HOF type fighter in Tarver and USS will be highly ranked by all 4 of the major snactioning bodies.

USS has had horrible luck with the judges during his HW campaign, but let's say he's got wins over Monsour, Glaskov, and Adamek(HOF) at HW, along with a prospect in Visnia, and journeymen Gavern and Quezada.

Tarver holds a singular solid win in Banks at HW, but has HOF credentials for his LHW accolades, and with a win over USS, and being 46 y/o, it would be a historic type fight for the 40 y/o Wladimir fighting the 46 y/o Tarver. 86 years combined age in a HW title match:lol::lol:, might be a record.

Wladimir is looking to surpass Holmes for the #2 spot in HW title defenses, and if/when he gets past Fury, it would tie him with Holmes I believe.

So, which would be the bigger cherry, should Wlad fight the winner of USS v Tarver early next yr.

IDK.....Monsour couldnt put him away, and with or without testing, Monsour is stronger and throws harder punches than Tarver.

Also.....Tarver doesnt have a speed adavantage in this fight like he did vs Banks and Sheppard.

So.....we'll see how he deals with USS's lead R hand which could spell LIGHTS OUT FOR Tarver. :think

:patsch An enforced mandatory is NOT a cherry pick, you've really gone off the rails as a legitimate poster.

Cunningham is a legit top 10-12 HW.

Berto is what, ranked number 20 at WW? This is a far bigger cherry pick. Also Baldomir wasn't a cherry pick, he was THE MAN at WW, however limited he was.

USS/Tarver is a great fight, and I don't think the winner will be at #2, according to who We Be Crooks or something? Whatever, a lot worse guys could be ranked above them. Berto on the other hand is absolutely disgraceful cherrypick, even worse that they expect PPV for it:patsch

Don't think Tarver had a speed advantage over Banks. It's just his incredible timing to throw punches and accuracy that makes the difference.

Baldomir was just an opportunity for Floyd because he beat Judah. Plenty of other better fighters but he was the easiest target AND he had the belts. No brainer for Floyd's risk reward matchmaking algorithm.

    It wasnt enforced.

Im not dissing Wlad for fighting his mandatory. But he could have pushed it off for about a yr, wherein Leapei woulda surely been defeated. Had he not, but fighting the likes of Tupou, or guys on that upper C level, maintaining his mandatory status, it would have looked better than it did, on paper at least.

Point being.....Wlad has some leeway as to when he fights a mandatory.
Fury makes financial sense to fight now. Glaskov does not. Therefore, Wlad pushes Glaskov back, signs Fury, and hopes the worthless Giftkov runs into a guy like Monsour. :think

    Wrong on all counts!

It was enforced, he could not have pushed it off without being stripped. The second Thompson fight 7/7/2012 was his previous WBO mando, he fought Leapai 4/26/2014 ..almost 2 years between mandatory WBO defenses. He has 18 months to fulfill his mandatory, which is why when Leapai beat Boytsov, Klitschko was ordered to immediately negotiate the mandatory defense. Time was up, there was no leeway, especially since he has 2 other potential mandatories he has to take care of at any given time.

Even if there was wiggle room, no way Leapai would have taken another fight knowing he could lose his shot at a major payday and title shot. He would have sat it out.

So again, it was no cherry pick.

I picked the first one because this topic has been done to death already, we know it's a disappointing fight, we've got that out of our system, it doesn't erase what he's already done and if Mayweather's considered a cherry picker what the hell is everybody else?

Wlad and K2 set Leapai up as a mando themselves. So Wlad would have himself stripped now would he?:patsch
