Cintron - Martinez is by far the worst. In none of the other fights mentioned above one of the fighters got pretty much knocked out before getting the draw.

HookandJab: I was home alone as a 15 yr. old watching Ellis-Patterson. After the decision, I broke a patio chair into pieces. I used to have a screensaver showing Ellis and Patterson in the ring after the decision was announced.
Floyd in the background unmarked, with a bemused look on his face and Jimmy, with his hands raised, looking like someone that just come out of a 'meat grinder'. Both eyes closing, broken nose in short looking like a disfigured gargoyle. He looked worse than Joey G., after the Carter fight, in that joke of a "Hurricane" movie.

Jowcol: I was 15 also when I watched that robbery. Floyd, in my opinion, beat Ellis decisively. (Correction, I was 14.)

Brilliant post. Patterson did really well when you think about it, to come back from those ko s to ingo and liston. He clawed his way back and almost became a 3 time champ. What a guy Patterson was!

If it hasn't already been mentioned, I nominate the 15 round "draw" between Bob Foster and Jorge Ahumada. Ahumada was quite blatantly robbed of a rightful decision and the lightheavyweight title.

Forgot about that one red. And was only reading about that the other day. Definitely a robbery and fosters best days were drawing to a close.

Hi Red! Brilliant minds think alike ha ha! Surprisingly I actually watched Bob & Jorge last nite (saw it live too via closed circuit after the 2nd Frazier-Quarry 'way back when') Ahumada definitely belongs on ANY list of 'should have been champs' fighter lists). I still remember Jorge being interviewed after the decision being, surprisingly upbeat saying (through an interpreter): "A draw in the Champion's home town seems like a win to me!"
Loved him; gave a prime Conte hell in the WBC title s c r a p a few months later (IN ENGLAND). I've always thought a prime Yaqui vs. a prime Jorge would have been one of those (I want a ringside seat with dogs n' beer) really good matchups! Gotta go, I got new glasses today and, as it takes 24 hours or so to get used to them, I'm about ready to vomit! (smilie)

Lost a little respect for Bob being a sore loser that didn't deserve the gift draw after that fight, as he spent a lot of time and words in criticizing Jorge as "not being a puncher" and all that pointless ****...what mattered was that Ahumada outfought and outpunched him all night...landing that left hook of his and intelligently crowding him all night...racking up the points. I only wonder what Galindez would have done to Foster that evening.

:ARMS1:Hi jowcol!! Take it easy with thise new specs...I know what you're talking about too well.
Yes, I was a fan of Ahumada too...watched him dispatch Bobby Cassidy in his previous fight and knew he would surprise Foster. Another great "uncrowned champion" he was!

The second fight was closer to a draw. I had Lewis Holyfield rematch 7 rounds to 5 for Lewis
Chavez Whitaker was horrible as well. So was Leonard Hearns 2.
I think the Lewis Holyfield 1 fight was the worst robbery because it was for THE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLD. but all 3 fights were pretty obvious robberies

Norton vs Ledoux was a terrible draw as Norton was hanging helplessly on the ropes. It should have been a TKO for Scott.

Agree it should have been stopped, but given that it wasn't I'm not sure the scores were out of whack -- Scotty came on very late but gave away most of the rounds.

It's a fascinating fight, however, and worth a revisit.

I've posted this before but did anyone see the Holmes-Ledoux fight live prime-time? P i s s on Scott and p i s s on his Thug handlers. Chris Shenkel was interviewing Ledoux's corner after the fight and the Band o' Thugs were pushing and jostling him trying to make him say what they wanted him to say. A few minutes later Cosell was talking to Chris and he interrupted Howard saying (paraphrased) "I just want to say that I have never been so assaulted and abused by a fighter's corner than I just was!!" He was a nervous wreck. Ken-Scott's fight doesn't even warrant a comment as Norton was heading downhill then and Ledoux was nothing but a big tough NOTHING with no Champion skills. My $0.02

Their behavior was worse considering Holmes gifted Ledoux that title shot because he learned that Scott's wife had cancer and it was a way to help out the family. She had multiple surgeries that prolonged her life, and that purse was probably instrumental in that.
