in order to know who rank higher among the KO artist, which loss is worse?

hatton was outclassed by the p4p king while cotto can not shut down margarito the way mosley did few weeks ago.

If we are to assume that the Cotto vs Margarito fight was fair then without a doubt that's the worst loss.

Aside from Hatton nuthugger people know that PBF would teach Hatton a lesson.

Cotto was the favourite going into the Margarito fight. He suffered a brutal beatdown.

Cotto margarito is worse,Ricky was not really expected to win the fight by anyone other than casual boxing fans.Cotto was just supposed to be in a competitive fight and blew it big time. The cheating glove thing casts a shadow over that fight now though.

well pbf is not a strong puncher and he knocked out hatton, but marg is a strong puncher so it was expected. not from floyd so to me it will be hatton.

well both fighters have an axe to grind.

Hatton = Joe Cortez Hatton's plan was to get in close with Floyd but Cortez wouldn't let him he spoiled Hatton's game plan and when Hatton tried to chase PBF around the ring he got tried and was picked off. Joe Cortez refed the Calzaghe Bhop match and he didn't stop Bhop from holding Calzaghe. that was a big reason why i think Floyd won, i expected him to win but after the third round you knew Hatton wouldn't stand a chance with Cortez in the middle.

Cotto = was probably punched in the face with Plaster of Paris.

it's a no brainer Hatton's defeat was worse by default because Cotto's loss could be seen as assault with a deadly weapon

For me the Cotto fight. At the end when he took a knee that look on his face was something else. It was like wtf just happened!

    Cottos of course...

Margo was no where near a pfp list at the time.. Cotto was fav. Margo is one dimensional.

Hatton was fighting at 147 against the best fighter in the world.

    Its not even close.

I don't do p4p because i think the whole concept is stupid. but the Hatton v PBF fight was supposedly for the ring P4P no1 rank, and that's the only fight Hatton has ever lost. Cotto has never really been close to p4p no1

so the ring magazine gets it correctly putting hatton over cotto...
most of the list i've seen have cotto ahead of hatton

I'd have Hatton slightly ahead just cos he's had 2 wins since, Cotto hasn't fought. They are quite similar in terms of talent for me, with Cotto obviously the bigger fighter so he would be the favorite should they ever fight.
Hatton took too much **** for me after the Mayweather fight, like someone else said here he was fighting the best.

Hatton climbed to 147 to fight FMJ and the underdog, Cotto fought in his own division and the favorite...COTTO!!!

The Cotto-Marg fight has big question marks over it now though.

If we're assuming that the Margarito fight was legit and there was no cheating involved, then Cotto's loss is worse. Margarito's ban probably means that the loss won't have too much of a negative impact on Cotto's legacy though (although the same can be said about Hatton's loss to PBF)
