Which fight was more one sided and who do you think was given a more embarrassing boxing lesson? Tough call for me. :think

Kovalev Hopkins for me. Hopkins was visibly scared to engage with Kovalev. Pavlik at least kept trying.

Bit unfair. Of course Kov vs B-Hop was worse, but those were completely different circumstances.

I think B-Hop deserves credit to step into the ring with someone who was supposed to toy with him at his age and did, while certain boxers only seem to run and hide by hearing the name Kovalev.

who cares of bhop got in the ring with him to be honest.... bhop don't deserve props for running around the ring in circles like a puss. Floyd could get in teh ring with wladamir and just run for 12 rounds... lose 12-0 and everyone would call him a big *****.

Completely unfair question given the circumstances

Hopkins wasn't schooled by Kov in the slightest, BHOP felt the power then didn't want any of it, it was that simple

Anyway u should be quoting Hopkins schooling of Tito never mind Pavlik

Wasn't schooled? He was shutout, knocked down, and rocked multiple times. What the hell is a schooling then?

He felt his power early and ran for the rest of the fight, he didn't even engage or put him self in a position to be "schooled"

How can u b schooled when ur basically not fighting, ur just running, grabbing ducking and weaving? Obviously he is lost every round but it wasn't like he tried out outbox Kovalev and got beaten by a superior a skill level

He through less than 15 punches per round

    Kovalev vs. Hopkins

    Jabs
    Kovalev 45 of 244, 34%
    Hopkins 25 of 84, 30%

    Power
    Kovalev 121 of 341, 35%
    Hopkins 40 of 111, 36%

    Total
    Kovalev 166 of 585, 28%
    Hopkins 65 of 195, 33%

    • Kovalev landed more power shots than Hopkins even threw.

    • Kovalev landed nearly twice as many jabs as Hopkins and landed the jab at the higher percentage despite throwing almost thrice as many.

    • Hopkins didn't win a round on my card or those of any official judge. Most fans and press scored it the same.

    Hopkins vs. Pavlik

    Jabs
    Hopkins 24 of 226, 11%
    Pavlik 53 of 252, 21%

    Power
    Hopkins 148 of 304, 49%
    Pavlik 55 of 211, 26%

    Total
    Hopkins 172 of 530, 32%
    Pavlik 108 of 463, 23%

    • Pavlik actually landed over twice as many jabs and nearly doubled Hopkins' connect percentage.

    • It was power shots where the battle went Hopkins' way, outscoring Pavlik by nearly triple and nearly doubling his connect percentage.

    • Pavlik won a round on Steve eisfeld's card and two on Barbara Perez's. Alan Rubenstein had a shutout for Hopkins, reading 119-106 after the point deductions (one each to Hopkins and Pavlik). Most fans and press had it within that same range.

The answer to "worse schooling", to me, seems pretty obvious.

I don't see why it matters. Point being, he was beaten decisively to the point where you had to feel bad for him.

Algieri ran against Pac the entire fight. Yes he was knocked down 6 times, probably only 3 times, and was hurt maybe a couple times. Point being, he got his **** kicked. Regardless of how he chose to fight.

There's a clear error in them stats.

if someone lands 34% of jabs and 35% of powerpunches it's mathematically impossible to have only a 28% total connect rate whatever the ratios.
You can't have less as the lowest % or more as the highest %.

Pretty easy to find the error. Just look at some of the numbers

Kovalev gave Hopkins a Boxing lesson. Hopkins wanted nothing to do with Kovalev's savage power after that first right hand landed and knocked him down.

Think it's mainly the terminology being used here...

Yes he was beaten up and survived for 12 rounds and didn't have the physical attributes due to his age to be competitive or change the fight but I'd see schooling as 2 fighters physically matched, with the same conditioning but superior skills levels prevail

As mentioned b4 I'd see Hopkins vs Trinidad as a schooling or Rigo Vs Donaire as a schooling,

Fighters who have been soundly beaten on nothing but the skill of their opponent, IMO that's didn't happen in Hopkins vs Kovalev

Power and Father Time won Kovalev the fight as opposed to him being superior boxer

    Good eye, Rob. :good

    That is just one typo.

    Kovalev's jab connect % ought to read 18% (45 divided by 244), not 34%.

Otherwise the stats are correct and the maths square away.
