Scared to take a punch from Hopkins? Laughable!

So? Hopkins was still laying down the competition AND if he had won the shoe would have been on the other foot. So don't come that talk, mate.

The age is irrelevant because Kovalev sonned a granddaddy thus making himself a great-granddaddy and therefore much older than his son. +1

Also Kovalev beat B-Hop in his own country, whereas Pavlik was from the USA too. +1

And Pavlik was leaping up two weight classes to a division he has never beaten anyone world class in before. The only world class victory he holds above 160 was the rematch at 164 against Taylor, in a fight that was razor-close, whereas B-Hop was the unified WBA and IBF holder at 175 when Kovalev showed him how he rolls and had beaten numerous world class LHWs and world champions (and with ease too) at that weight. +1

Another reason why the age is irrelevant is because due to B-Hop taking great care of himself he has the body of a 25 year old man, whereas Pavlik might be a lot younger in chronological years but he has the body of an 80 year old due to his severe alcohol/coke habit. +1

Kovalev was in cruise control when he beat B-Hop. He was only operating at about 30% of maximum capability whereas B-Hop was operating on 100% of maximum capability against a drunkard who he'd dragged up two division in weight, to a division the drunkard has never beaten anyone worth their weight in snot at. + 1

The 30% version of Kovalev put the fear of god into a former ex-con violent thug whom it had been previously thought it was impossible to intimidate. B-Hop was literally scarred out of his wits after Kovalev dumped him on his ass in the first round. Kovalev made him wish he'd honoured the promise he made his dying mother Shirley Hopkins on her deathbed. +1

Kovalev could've stopped B-Hop by the half way mark if he really wanted to get him out of there. And if B-Hop had decided to poke his tongue out at Kovalev in the first round instead of the 12th he wouldn't have made it out of the 3rd round. +1

Kovalevs been knocked out with headgear on, of course he's gonna tread carefully. A good counter punch from Hopkins could have put him on q.ueer st, nothing laughable about that

Hopkins-Kovalev is not even a schooling. Everyone was expecting Hop to lose and Hop did not look stupid in there. Schooling is when you look foolish. Throwing punches and you keep on missing looking foolish while doing so. That is my definition of schooling

I'm not the one who lied to their mother on her deathbed. Real classy of B-Hop that. Just like it was real classy of him to admit to setting out with the intention of wanting to ruin Kelly Pavlik's career AND life but also actually gloating about achieving it afterwards. :patsch

'Hopkins claims a victory over the favored Kovalev wouldn't be enough to crack his top three of most significant in-ring performances. He reserves the top spot for his 2008 upset of unbeaten middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik in a 170-pound catchweight bout.

"That was the greatest moment of my life because it was undeniably white against black," Hopkins said. "The American story against the thug, even though he changed his life. The convicted felon. So it was me representing an entity that had changed in spite of what they say you should be able to do. But once you do it, they really don't want you to do it.

"And so I exposed it and I beat him easily after being a 6-to-1 underdog. And, matter of fact, it even went further. I ruined his life. I ruined his career."

Just because Bernard said some stupid **** in his time doesn't give you an excuse to do the same.

What B-Hop said and did is far worse than mere stupidity. It was actually despicable.

Hopkins - Pavlik easily. Hopkins-Kovalev is still fresh in our minds, but it wasn't half the schooling that the Pavlik fight was.

Imo Hopkins came up against a young highly skilled fighter and his age showed.

Except those stats pretty accurately reflect what happened both nights. Or are you saying they don't?

Hmm, it was a schooling. Hopkins has faced punchers before, he had confidence knowing that he could make them miss and mount something of an offense himself. He didn't have that confidence with Kovalev, who wasn't falling for his traps and feints. He got schooled. Although he was a 50 years old so he gets more than a break.
