One was spoon fed a Record of the "most" weight classes. The other with a Record of being the youngest 154 title holder. Both pretty shitty but I do not blame the fighter just the stupid greedy alphabets and the promoters that have the pull to accomplish BS like this.
I say Manny simply cus he grabbed another vacant belt at a catch weight then went back down in weight.. rather than defending or unifying, BTW since Floyd got so much **** for not unifying the titles why does manny get a free pass here?
Who is the worst human being to ever hold the Title? Which titleholder comes from the lowest family? This thread is dribble!
I hear you theres a few guys that would be pretty risky for Canelo to take on right now... But in the mean time i think he can beat and make legit title defenses against say a Yuri Foreman,Chavez Jr and Vanes Martyosian... All winnnable fights and no one really can say hes fighting safe touches... After that and he should be ready for the Cotto(if hes still around),Williams,Angulos and Kirklands..... If Mayorga could pull of the upset over Cotto , Mayorga comments on Alvarez being a ginger would be straight comedy.... I think hed rattle the poor kids cage and bring back memories of his childhood days in Mexico
pacman is easily the worst of these two. he fought at a catchweight with no intention to rmeain at the weight. canelo will almost certainly defend his belt at 154.
ye i didn't interpret the question as talent, but rather as a belt holder, and canelo is better because he will prob reign at 154 longer than pac did.
Both guys were spoon fed a horse**** title fight, but at the very least Canelo Alvarez fought at the weight class that the title is distributed. So I'm going with Manny being worse because Saul's claim to the title is slightly less ridiculous.
Im a fan of Canelos but i have to say his claim is worst.. I mean come on every one knows that Margarito is way more accomplished and dangerous than Hatton ever will be, as for Manny coming in at 144 well bottom line is he was the one giving up the size advantage, where as Canelo was the one fighting the naturally smaller guy. .. Much props to Hatton for showing balls and a solid chin but every one knows he was not worthy of fighting for the vacant belt,, Hatton is the type of guy you take as an easy defense after a tough fight not the type of guy to win a legit title from. Oh yeah as for manny coming in at 144. Well Armstrong use to come in much lighter all the time and hes given praise for giving up weight advantages and coming out on top.... I dont see why Pac gets criticism for coming in light.
I see no problem in coming in light, the issue is his opponent wasn't allowed to weigh in at 154 lbs which is ridiculous considering that's the limit of the weight class. Alvarez v Margarito at 154 lbs would have been more credible.
The catch weight is not only to provide a level playing field but also to prevent weight mismatches that can endanger the fighters. Boxing Commission can sanctioned this fight for the JrMiddleweight Title since the fight was within that weight limit. The smaller guy is getting ridiculed for asking a level playing field. It just happened that the fight falls under the JrMiddleweight division. Like the fight between Gatti vs Gamache, which Gatti gained about 19 lbs after the weigh in. This resulted in serious injuries to the smaller Gamache. Same as Margarito who gained about 17 lbs from 150 lbs and weighed 167 when he fought Pac. This resulted in serious injuries to the BIGGER Margarito! (SOME THOUGHT OF IT AS WORST 154 BELT TITLE HOLDER?) Shouldn't we give credit to the smaller guy making an attempt to test himself above his limit and managed to survive? (well....we know it was Margarito who managed to survive....damn Pac breaking the "Law of what's supposed to Happen").
