I don't generally feel all that bad about getting predictions way wrong for fighters I don't know about. The only time I've really felt embarassed is when I completely didn't see something that seemed pretty obvious to a lot of people when predicting fights with fighters that I think I know a lot about.

Hopkins Calzaghe is the fight that sticks out in my mind the most. I got the Calzaghe winning part right but man I never thought Bernard had a hope in hell, let alone would come close to winning the fight. Honestly, I couldn't for the life of me figure why so many people were picking bernard. I thought it was just blind US nut hugging or Calzaghe hating or something...cause I thought that the old guy was going to get ripped with fifty punches per round and stopped or something. So you can imagine my shock when bernard floored him in the first and preceeded to school his ass for a good chunk of the fight. I didn't really mind this embarasment though cause I was cheering for BHop. Just re-enforced my respect for the guy.

This thread should be littered with the people who picked Gomez to beat Cotto.

I thought Tyson would stop Lewis. I was sure Mike would put in a "turn the clock back" performance and stop Lewis in the middle rounds, especially after guys who didn't hit as hard as him were able to do it.

    WRONG

    Mosley vs Cotto.

I thought Shane's handspeed would be too much for Cotto and he would hurt him and take him out. I think I picked Mosley TKO 7.....

    Naseem Hamed v MAB

I thought barrera would win the fight if it went the distance, but i thought for sure naz would have caught him and dragged him out of his gameplan and stopped him. But in the end MAB's plan was perfect!

I picked Enzo Mac to beat David Haye. I thought Mac was the better boxer by a distance and would stop Haye late while winning most rounds :verysad

Worst by far is Cintron Margarito II. I'd read lots about all Cintron's pre training problems first time round and combined with Manny Stewart as his trainer and the fact that Williams had shown how you can outbox Margo, I thought Cintron would do the same. Obviously not with the output of Williams, but I assumed they would know his only chance to win would be to box on the outside with clean straight punches and not trading with Margarito.

Instead Stewart told him not to back up and he stood and fought on the inside with Margarito and got ko'd.

Cintron had the blueprint on how not to fight Margarito and he followed it for the 2nd time.

Recently, Simms v. Alcine burned me pretty badly. I didn't realize Simms would suddenly forget how to throw punches. He aged about 10 years over the course of 2 fights. I thought Simms would dominate. Heck, I still think a properly trained Simms would dominate.

Mayorga vs De La Hoya, I had Mayorga winning based off of the gift decision DLH got against Sturm.

Although Arce vs Mijiares was pretty bad. £30 quid down the toilet.

I thought Trinidad could have stopped Roy, despite not being at his natural weight, and with his opponent once fighting a Heavyweight. :patsch
