    So, what are they ?

I once stumbled across a guy on the internet that strongly believed in the notion that Floyd Mayweather is not a top 60 ATG. While I thought that the idea itself was already a major stretch, I could kinda see where he was coming from.

He argued the classic case of Floyd's opposition being weak compared to most greats', and that he was mostly a quantity over quality type of fighter, with the odd 1 or 2 genuinely great wins. He then proceeded to name the 60 fighters he thought were greater than Floyd. Some choices were.....odd.....to say the least.

Some of the men he picked included Randy Turpin, Marcel Cerdan, Beau Jack, Bobo Olson, Jake LaMotta, Tiger Flowers, literally every member of the Murderer's row, practically every great Heavyweight, as well as Elmer Ray of all people. Yes, that Elmer Ray, he argued that his wins over Charles and Walcott were enough to put him above Floyd

So have at it, share the strangest takes you've ever seen.

That Marciano knocks out Lewis in 3.
Ricardo Lopez somehow ending up in the top 10 flyweight results in the survey Rummy did here.
I've seen multiple p4p lists in youtube comment sections with Calzaghe as number 1.
I've seen Locche called underrated so many times. How can someone be underrated if you can't go one second without seeing him called underrated? Wouldn't he just be rated by that point?
Someone putting Donaire above Wilde at flyweight. (The list was not based on h2h btw)

That Max Schmeling hit about as hard as 1951 Joe Louis.

That Aaron Pryor would have had a snowball's chance in hell of beating Leonard, and that Leonard ducked him. Both are idiotic claims. Fighting Pryor would have been cherry-picking for Leonard. Pryor was far too small.

A few years back I got into an argument on here with someone named "SerbianLoudmouth" who claimed that Frank Bruno was feather fisted. I am not joking.

That’s as logically sound as it gets. Well said.

One poster’s position was that Jim Jeffries ultimately didn’t avoid “defending” against Jack Johnson - because when he returned in 1910, Big Jimbo was “defending” his Lineal Title...oh, and the White Race too.

Yet another “out to lunch” poster - who believes that Usyk will beat Fury and perhaps even stop him in the later rounds.

    Like, Hello McFly..is anybody home?

Oops, that poster is actually me and this post doesn’t belong in Classic either. Very sneaky.

One poster, likely well known to many, repeatedly stated that Joe Louis was “low tech” and said he wouldn’t survive against the more “high tech” modern bunch.

Joe Louis “low tech”? Can an “observation” re one of boxing’s most technical practitioners be any more absurd than that? Lol.

    - Style advantages don't exist in boxing.
    - modern weight-making doesn't make a significant difference to the weight division a boxer belongs in
    - % of rounds won is the most important metric in determining greatness in boxing
    - a modern amateur with a handful of fights would defeat Sugar Ray Robinson, who was primitive
    - reading books is a stupid way to learn about boxing history
    - lighter, shorter fighters are actually bigger if their assumed "natural" weight is more

    All stuff form this forum.

I feel that way with all the Larry Holmes stuff I see on YouTube, FB etc. “most underrated Heavyweight ever”, when he’s consistently in most top five lists.

Amateur backgrounds mean nothing in boxing. That opinion has always been puzzling to me.

Not the worst, but a very annoying and persistent one is that Rocky (or Floyd) is the best ever, and is unbeatable, for the sole reason that he was undefeated. It's ridiculous how common this rhetoric is
