Yeah, that was a crazy beating. Calzaghe hit him a zillion times in every round, no letting up. Really I thought Lacy's corner should have pulled him out towards the end.
Yeah, I forgot about that one. It became trribly one-sided very quickly. Shame, because Honeyghan was better than that, I felt.
Taylor had some bad luck, such as Loud Duva distracting him when Steele was asking him questions. Also Taylor was unfortunate to be surrounded by a talented WW division, where he moved up to after Chavez, citing weight issues at 140. His defensive flaws and modest size/power were gonna catch up to him sooner or later, and Chavez made it sooner and made his decline start younger. Surely his management didn't help. Taylor looked very good a year after Chavez when he beat Aaron Davis for the WBA title at 147, but struggled in defenses against Luis Garcia and Glenwood Brown. All things considered I liked how Taylor rallied from the 2 KDs against Brown and won a hard-fought decision, very good body punching, but then his management put him in there at 150.5 against Terry Norris. Seems like a definite cash-out fight, putting him in there with a guy whom he has a very slim chance of beating. If your guy was showing signs of diminished punch resistance, and had just been hurt and dropped by Glenwood Brown, it doesn't seem like a good idea to put him in there against a bigger, powerful, and fast guy in Terry Norris at a higher weight. Espana was just a horrible style matchup, and an example of the type of stylistic and size disadvantages he was always going to face at 147. That was another beatdown that would make that list. That was ugly.

I wouldn't describe close, competitive fights where both fighters take a ton of punishment to be "beatdowns." In fact I think Golota took too much of a beating vs. Bowe to call the rematch a beatdown, but it's certainly way up there in terms of sustained punishment.
