What about Barkley's 3rd round KO over Hearns in 1988? I have never seen a winner so busted up inside 3 rds before.......

good shout that one - awful fight for George - gotta say that no way I could complain if they'd awarded that one to Stewart

come to think of it George was walking into a real drubbing from Michael Moorer until he managed to find that shot from no-where too

Only time Older George actually acknowledge he was in pain to his corner, in the Moorer fight. From a stoic guy like that, its saying something.

I know I'm in the minority but I used to really like watching Michael Moorer - I thought he was a very good boxer - obviously nowhere near the same class but he reminded of knd of a southpaw Joe Louis the way he went about his man - and a great puncher in his own way too - under appreciated I think - very accurate and methodical

The Basilio Robinson fights where pretty grueling. Hence no trilogy.

Tommy Morrison took some horrendous hurt against Joe Hipp. One of the most injury-filled fights I've seen.

Morrison certainly looked like he'd lost at least one fight-

"Morrison suffered a broken jaw and hand during this bout, and Hipp had his cheekbone shattered." - boxrec.

Joe Jeanette took a fine beating from Sam McVey in their 49 round war.

That was horrendous. Golota was in bad shape too; he had a cut that went right through his lower lip to the other side. But Bowe turned from slightly punchy before that fight to an absolute headcase afterwards. Put any heavyweight title contender in Golota's place in round 9 and they win the fight on point. Even Damon Reed could have finished!

George Chuvalo vs Jerry Quarry...maybe not the worst example of a beatup winner, but a contender.
