I can think of loads... some of them are mutual ones. Holyfield vs Bowe III Bowe vs Golota II Marquez vs Vasquez III Pryor vs Arguello I More one-sided/wrecking jobs.... Hagler vs Mugabi - Mugabi was completely ****ed afterwards Lewis vs Morrison Klitschko vs Williams Mosley vs Margarito Tried to come up with a few new ones.
I believe Briggs kept saying inbetween the 10th,11th and 12th rounds "what ever you do don't pull me out". Must have still believed he could still pull out another Liakhovich last round big KO despite being well down.
Graham earl took a lot of punishment of katsidis People remember katsidis touching down and earl digging in but the reality was he got a hiding Gary buckland gave Paul truscott an uncomfortable night, not a beating but he walked through everything and keep battering him round after round Vitali Briggs, foreman Frazier and the brutal mercer Morrison are great examples of someone getting a beating
i always remember feelin bad for gatti when mayweather put a beating on him... was hard to watch at times..... that and DLH takin a beatdown off pac are the 1st that spring to mind
That's where his corner need to take charge and pull him out anyway. For ****'s sake he was getting beaten severely. Look at what Gary Lockett did with Rees recently in the Broner fight. Saw Gavin wasn't going to win and was getting battered so he stepped in and ended it despite Rees telling him not too. He stopped the fight before Gavin got seriously hurt because he knew if it went on much longer only one thing would happen. If trainers/cornermen aren't willing to protect a fighter, sometimes from himself, then they're not very good at their job.
I sadly went to Benn/McClellan and Eubank/WatsonII. The two worst I have seen on TV are Chavez/Rosario and perhaps the worst in modern boxing: Resto/Collins. Anyone who has not seen it, should spare an hour to watch it. If not watch from 8:30 in the final part, when Collins Snr clocks on to what had happened. It was the fact that the fight was going to be called off because of Rios not even being near to the weight as well.Away from home house fighter ko win being the only way Murray could win not going to nick it on the cards. You can only hazard a guess how much Rios was on the night look at the size difference on the night.Gallagher should have pulled him out anywhere from 6 onwards the fight was over by then.
I didn't want to mention the benn and eubank fights but particulary the benn fight was savage.the best and worst of boxing I have seen countless American undercard fights where somebody takes a carear threatening beating,12 round fights at top level are reffed more leniently rightly or wrongly as there is alot on the line But some of these meaningless 8'round beatings in the us are painful to watch
Someone must know of this YouTube video. It's of an old fight, black and white and before the mandatory 8 count and before the boxer had to go into a neutral corner. So basically the boxer who knocked down his opponent just stood over him til he got up then just battered him back down. In this particular video the guy got knocked down like 5 times or more. It's brutal. Hopefully someone knows of this video, it's of a well known fighter I just can't remember it!
Heavyweight Patterson maybe, something like 7 knockdowns if we are talking same fight They made them tough then
I was hoping nobody brought these fights up, these 3 fights were my first thought for obvious reasons and it kills the question stone dead, Benn/McClellan was brutal for both fighters, Eubank/Watson is a different matter, that was a punch that caused that (Again a tragic but humbling way of how dangerous this sport can be), the Resto fight is a tragic reminder what can happen if some **** decides to cheat at it.
one that made me shed a tear while very drunk watching it on telly...... michael watson v mike mccallum..... watson was everything i liked in a boxer.
