A fight that went the distance but could have easily been stopped?

The 15 round pounding Larry Holmes gave Tex Cobb was pretty bad.

    As bad as this?

also, this was a ko and not even boxing, but fits the category of candidate for 'worst beating' I think. The guy went from 'regular' to 'cronenberg' in about 6 minutes

William Joppy vs Bhop. Joppy took a horrible beating but never was stopped.

Calzaghe vs Lacy was a good example of death by a thousand paper cuts. Whilst I concede Lacy was vastly overhyped, he genuinely was a better fighter pre Calzaghe, than he was post him.

If we are talking in colour, yeah, Vitali over Shannon. Vitali literally made him into his son.

I do not understand the science of it.

I think there was some story behind it too. I think They had a little bet, or if not - at least some sort of argument - where Joppy said that there's no way B-Hop will stop him. Turns out He was right, but not sure if it was worth it.

Think Briggs v Klitschko is the poster boy for bad beatings. Lol
But it was painful to watch.
Chavez V Camacho was a bit of an ass kicking over the distance.

You're right! I forgot all about the bet. Joppy won and lost the bet at the same time!

While Lacy was a hype job that fight should have been stopped. It made matters worse when he hurt his shoulder in his next fight which took away his power.

I remember Christian Mijares vs Jorge Arce being very one sided the punchstats were 432 to 137.

Pacquiao-Margarito was very brutal. Margarito had some nice moments, hurting Manny to the body, but got the crap beaten out of him. He suffered a fractured orbital bone. I also think this was the last we really saw of Manny at his best, as he already had a lot of wear-and-tear on him to begin with and it was still fairly tough physically for him.

Tyson-Ruddock 2 was actually fairly competitive, Ruddock landed his share of hard shots and took some rounds, but he took a dreadful beating. He suffered a broken jaw, one eye was badly swollen, and I think he may have suffered a broken rib too.

Howard Cosell quit commentating boxing after the beating in Holmes-Cobb. Tex Cobb said he gave the boxing world a big gift by causing Howard to quit.

    Vitali-Briggs was grotesque.

The fight being made was grotesque. What came next bordered on the macabre.
