I am not talking about guys like Jason Gavern or so, I am talking about boxers without skills or heart who were hyped like the "next big thing".

    1. Artur Szpilka

Mostly hyped by Poles, claiming he's the new Golota etc. He was down against Saulsberry, McCline and twice against Minto. He was schooled by an nobody called Bryant Jemnings, a guy who didn't box before the age of 25.
Szpilka has next to his fellow countryman Wawrzyk the worst chin in HW history.
This hype was even more ridiculous than the Proksa hype, who at least beat a shot Sylvester .. but being schooled by a bum like Mora .. he actually deserves to be mentionend too.

    2. David Price

Brits claimed the Klitschkos are ducking Price .. hehe. They claimed he hits stronger than Wlad. His entrance was a huge big show, like he would be Wlad.
He's a cheap copy of Wlad. Lennox taught him and he became even worse. Terrible glass jaw, knocked out twice by an old overweight Thompson who was schooled by Pulev. Price was even down in his last fight against a unknown nobody hehe. No heart, no stamina .. not a boxer.

    3. Adrien Broner

He thought he was a god. A arrogant show and trash talk before every fight. He wanted to be the new Floyd (which Asian guy would he duck? Hehe ..).
Maidana taught him a boxing lesson like no one before. He was literally destroyed. I've never seen a schooling like this before.

    4. Austin Trout

Actually a humble guy, the opposite of Broner but only after he was schooled like against Canelo and Lara. During the weight ins he never showed respect, he tried to intimidate his opponents with a "killer stare". Disrespectful. His chin is glass either, Lara is not a puncher.
I read all the time Trout is "too slick, too Black". Not enough for Canelo and Lara apparently. His win against Cotto didn't impress me either. Some guys on ESB made this guy into an ATG but he's only journeyman level.

    5. David Haye

So, Brits make this guy into a competition of Prime Mike Tyson. He won against a average boxer like Chisora and a boxer without skills named Walujew. This makes him into an ATG? He was knocked out by an old overweight unknown boxer. He ran an marathon against Wlad and was destroyed. Would he be a man and fight, Wlad could knock him out in 3 rounds.
He called the Klitschkos out for 3 years, canceled the fights and showed this poor performance. Eventually he ducked Fury and Vitali and made the same show as against Wlad.
Also when he came to late into the ring .. damn .. imagine his fear and paranoia in the locker room. Or after the fight .. a fresh injury of his little toe .. did he do it by himself hehe?

Name other hypes who were exposed badly.

I think Broner should be at the top of the list. I can't believe that dumb ass got hyped up so much just because he tried to emulate mayweather. All he did was beat up guys much smaller than him, and then won a belt against feather fist and shot Malignaggi. Glad to see Maidana derailed him

Sadly, the guy in OP's name might be on this list if he ever fights a live body. That's the difference between GGG and everyone on this list. Everyone on this list took a step up, and then we found out they were not as good as advertised. GGG wont take the step up for us to know how good he is.

GGG won over 300 amateurfights, he schools fighters others were struggling with, he's been avoided by everyone in MW and he took shots from one of the hardest hitting MW's like nothing. He's a machine and I don't see anyone really troubling him.

Wilder is clearly the worst over-hyped boxer in the 21st century. He's been a pro for five years, yet STILL hasn't faced a live body. His record is littered with the worst stiffs I've ever seen a "prospect" face on the way up.

And even some the no-hopers he's faced have had this FRAUD on the canvas. Wilder is a KO waiting to happen, nothing more. He's got a super-fragile glass jaw, and his handlers know it.

Honestly I don't see why people say Wilder is so over hyped, because I don't see him being hyped much at all. He is barely ever shown on TV and is not being hyped up by the media. If anyone if hyping him it would be a small amount of people on message boards. I agree that he has fought nothing but tomato cans and needs to step up his competition and will probably get sparked out when he does

This is such a **** list. The quality of this site's posters seems to be plummeting by the second at the moment.

You've never seen a worse schooling than the one Maidana gave broner? You need to watch more boxing.

Haye was the man at cruiser weight and won a strap at heavyweight before losing to a long reigning dominant champion in his adopted backyard. Also nobody said he was Tyson.

And Trout isn't a journeyman. He just lost to two other world class fighters. So bore off you're not even a funny troll.

Berto hyped big time by HBO as the next big star given easy fights to win the title and defended against crap turned out to be very average.

Victor Ortiz again hyped as a future star of the sport lost to Maidana given the Floyd fight after going life and death with fellow hypejob Berto, ends up loosing to fringe contender collazo in 2.

Adrien Broner the next floyd lucky to beat PDL close fight with Paulie and beaten down by Maidana will end up a gatekeeper.

David Price hyped as the heir to the HW throne despite never fighting a top contender stepped up and got exposed twice.

Kell Brook big hype behind him from Sky but in reality has spent a 32 fight career fighting nobodies and will imo be beaten down when he finally steps up.

Arturo Gatti Pains me to say it as he was such a warrior and in amazing fights but he's hyped as if he was a Great and was put in the HOF in reality while an exciting fighter never an elite one.

    Berto
    Alexander
    Wilder
    Scott
    Arreola
    Kevin Johnson (remember this one?)
    Dirrell
    Green
    Mitchell
Dawson (although he has a respectable resume, the Yanks said he'd dominate everyone for years)
    Taylor
    Lacy
    Grant
    Librado Andrade
    Ortiz
Quillin (it's died down now, but he did get crazy hype not too long ago)
    Canelo

i'm sure there's loads more. but this is a huge list of the biggest hype jobs you'll ever see.

Sky aren't calling Brook the man to take over the division or anything. they're just saying he's a good fighter who could win a title. and nearly all on here don't hype him, they say the exact opposite.

so how can he be a hype job then? :huh
