Couldn't agree more. Larry knows what to say, what to ask and doesn't lie when he is bored. During the first rounds of Jones-Hopkins: "It is good that is so cold here, or i would've fallen asleep". I loved the way he responded to Mayweather when Floyd had another one of his 8-year-old-boys outcries.. "You stick to commentating" -"But i am commentating".
Duke Mckenzie must surely be the worst. i've always been very impressed by the Yank commentors. Much better than our shower
In the case of Lewis, his point becomes less and less clear as his sentences proceed. He is either inarticulate or gets confused. We tend to think that because he was a fighter, he knows what he is talking about. That may or may not be true. What is true is that he appears to ramble and never really make a clear point.
Bob Papa or those guys from Showtime and for those that say Kellerman - **** YOU TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kellerman is a proven commentatory, with a history of boxing knowledge in that head of his, and better than Merchant. I like them both - but like Max more.
Get outta here!!! I Love Jim Watt. UK-wise it has got to be John Rawling, irratating as hell. Although good on fighting talk on Radio 5 Live. I like listening to Ian Darke.
I think you are referring to the "Fight Doctor" Ferdie Pacheo. Who was absolutely horrible. He was Ali's personal physican, so apparently somebody, at NBC and Showtime, figured that made him a boxing expert. He may very well be the worse. But remember Kevin Rooney (Tyson's old trainer) lasted, I believe, only one fight as a commentator for HBO. The guy could **** off the Pope. Tim Ryan and Gil Clancy were the best team.
There are PLENTY of boxing journalists and participants who have actually paid some dues working in the sport who could be given the HBO job. What the hell are Kellerman's qualifications?? Before being handed the ESPN job for no good reason, all this twerp had ever done was host some rinky-dink cable access show! That's IT. And it shows. HBO needs someone qualified - like Al Bernstein or Steve Farhood, both of whom spent a long apprenticeship working as boxing journalists at Ring magazine and elsewhere. And it shows in their knowledge of the game.
