$2 million a fight is great for Ward but I don't think Ward sees it that way based upon his past behaviour. He got $2 million for his last fight with Goosen and $1.4 million for the fight before that, Ward's expectations are for more.

As for opposition, if Ward is making $2 million his opponents will receive less as I can't see him putting up with being the B-Side based upon how he dealt with the Froch negotiations. That's not enough for anyone with anything to lose to want to face Ward.

Unfortunately he seem to think he is still in the same position he was in after he won the Super 6 and beat Dawson. At that stage he had a ton of momentum, the Dawson fight drew in 1.3 million views on HBO which is about 100K less than Golovkin is doing and Golovkin is about to have his first PPV. Ward may have been close to being in that position and being seen as a viable risk to put on PPV.

But then he was injured. His come back fight did OK with 1.2 million views but it was less than HBO expected based upon the 2 million they paid him. They wanted better opponents for that kind of money, but he wanted that kind of money for nobodies and more for better opposition which wouldn't be possible without PPV which HBO were not going to risk with him having fought once that year while he was just beginning a legal dispute with Goosen.

Then the protracted legal dispute and then a come back fight on BET where he drew only 323K views. Reality is Ward is now drawing numbers Rigondeaux would be disappointed at. Ward has to start from scratch and build up interest again, but that means facing off against all comers like he did in the Super 6 but that simply isn't going to happen.

Ward will now have to rely on what his opponents decide to do, because unless Roc Nation are willing to literally throw millions at him knowing they won't see a return anytime soon his opponents are the ones that will be dictating terms.

Ward career has turned into a tragedy.

Could / should be the p4p1 and its not gonna happen. He's been screwed, by himself unfortunately.

When are you boys going to realise, ward has no intention of fighting the best.

The Son Of Sh!t is more than happy living on past glory and posturing around big fights to get his fan boys giddy about imaginery fights where ward decapitates everyone in his division and above.

Ward could have fought froch, ggg, kovelev even bhop but he doesn't want any threat to his 0.

He'll probably announce that he is fighting Martin Murrey next to warm himself up again, because he wants to take things slowly before being inactive again for another year.

Boxing governing bodies need to ban this fraud from the sport.

Was the money wired to a bank account? A big number on a document means nothing until the wire hits.

If Ward is getting something in this neighborhood (which I doubt) then if I were him I could care less who the opponent is. I'm fighting for me and my family, not a bunch of keyboard warriors.

No way Ward gets Cotto type money because he isn't a TV draw nor does he have a national type fan base like Cotto does. If he got $4-8 million sent to his bank account that should set him up pretty well (I don't think he has an extravagant lifestyle) so who cares about legacy?

    Money talks, legacy walks.

Ehhh, they probably made every penny back in the Pacquiao fight alone...not to mention the Canelo fight.

Showtime made out like bandits on that deal.

If I was Golovkin I would ignore him. Just keep doing what your doing at 160. Fock Ward. They can trash the caliber of your opponents but at least your active.

No that was for Cotto alone. He demanded a lot of money and they obliged. I think the numbers for Ward are undisclosed but definitely are lower. Broner, Wilder and Thurman all turned down Roc Nation offers.

I was thinking the same thing Haymon would have really did Ward some good but there is hope maybe a GGG and Kovleav fight in the future

Look at this guy hanging around the locker rooms. If you listen to him speak about himself you can tell he feels unappreciated. He seems to think he should be getting Mayweather style money thrown at him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnEq0Jr1j3s
