wanted to see what you guys think about over training, how bad it can effect a fighter and who its ****ed up the worst before a fight

best example i could come up with is jones jr calzaghe

jones looked flat as **** wiv no energy
he said a few times in 24 he needed to take time off training because he was peaking too soon

in tito fight, although he wasnt on his toes as much, his hands were still moving alot, were very quick and lots of combos

against calzaghe he just threw the lead right hand and coverd up to get hit

did he over train and who else got badly effected by over training

He didn't over train. To sum it up he fought a past it Tito who had no business fighting at the weight he was and looked good. Against Calzaghe he was fighting a legit fghter and with Jones being way past it himself, he simply got beat up.

Hatton left a lot in the gym before facing Pacquiao, thats a good recent example. Doubt it would have stopped him from being knocked out by Pac but the fight would have likely gone on for longer.

Tyson vs Douglas is a good example, Tyson was training too much with asian girls... That type of training isn't very good I guess

Buster Douglas, mostly. I just don't imagine ever burning out if you are truly focused and motivated on your opponent. I'm probably wrong though, human physics and whatnot.

Then you probably haven't peaked to top condition. They go hand in hand.

same here. mayweather stays in shape 24/7 and you never hear him talk bout over training.

I believe you can overtrain by working out too much and not getting enough rest but not in peaking too early and becoming overtrained if you continue to work out (hatton vs pacquaio and mosley vs mayweather)

Oscar, when he fought Pacquiao. He was already walking under 147 before training started.

Im not sure if I believe it either. I mean the more the you train how could you get worse, surely you would get better. I understand the rest part of it but it's an excuse fighters use I think. Tarver said it after the Hopkins fight.
