I said that neither was the prevailing opinion and that anyone who has convinced himself of such doesnt know ****. I stand by that firmly.

Ali didn't duck Foreman, he was earning his shot.

Many alts, this is a news flash, you're saying that if Greb and Wills fought, Wills would beat Greb. So you are back to believing Wills is that good. Maybe you should view the tape again and read opposing views, or do you still say there are no creditable opposing views? I guess you dont know **** when you see it.

"Anyone who thinks that the prevailing opinion was that Wills hadnt proved his right, or that he would have lost to Greb doesn't know sh*t about boxing."

I interpreted that to mean the prevailing opinion only applied to the first part not the underlined part.
If you meant the prevailing opinion applies to both points of view then I have no argument with it.

I don't know if most thought Wills would beat Greb .I think Greb had an excellent chance to beat Wills. And I think that Wills, admittedly an older Wills, but an active one, looks **** against Firpo.
Watching him I see a slow and open mauler.
Certainly worse than a ring rusty Dempsey looks against Tunney and Sharkey.

I believe that, like myself you have mis-interpreted what Klompton said, or at least what he intended to say ,see my last post.

After koing Foreman to regain the title ,Ali fought 4 top ten rated challengers in the space of 15 months.
    Wepner,Bugner,Lyle,Frazier.

During that time Foreman fought NOBODY.

His first fight after being ko'd by Ali was against Lyle, whom Ali had kod 7 months previously, Lyle floored Foreman twice and nearly ko'd him.
Foreman then fought Frazier again, whom Ali had just beaten, followed by three unrated fighters Ledoux,Denis ,and Agosto, he then was beaten by Young.

How does Ali not fighting Foreman during this time scale constitute a duck?

Then why holyfield gave him his chance? Stylistically tyson had too many things to lose and little to win against george. Larry holmes was absolutely nobody when he fought tyson and he did not deserved this shot,he was retired 2 years and his last 2 fights were defeats against a lhw And STILL TYSON GAVE HIM HIS CHANCE.ITS MUCH EASIER TO WIN VS A SHOT STYLIST WITH NO REAL POWER.FOREMAN WAS A REAL RISK.SO YES CLOWN
    TYSON AVOIDED FOREMAN.
(BY THE WAY.OLD FOREMAN FOUGHT THE SAME BUMS THAT YOUNG TYSON FOUGHT BEFORE HIS TITLE SHOT.STEVE ZOUSKI OR DAVID JACO

    L. Spinks vs. Norton

    Lewis vs. V. Klitschko II

Tyson vs. Lewis (they did eventually fight when Lewis was champ)

    Foreman vs. Schulz II

God only knows, not like he'd come with cooee of actually earning it. Maybe it was the stoppage over 20-15 losses Lukasta 9 months earlier!

Losing a fight got him a shot against Moorer it seems. It was ridiculous when it boils down to it. Moorer wouldn't fight Lewis for the other title.

Realistically (and regasrdless of outcomes) what was Foreman doing getting not one but two title shots for doing very very little.

Capital letters doesn''t make it so :yep

Foreman hadn't won a fight of significance for 15yrs. Don't even think of bringing up C00ney, even you couldn't be that thick. The massive majority of expert cards scored the Spinks rematch for Holmes too so let's not be silly.

Tyson would have been ridiculed fighting Foreman. He had absolutely ZERO to gain in any way shape or form.

Tyson was a juggernaut and blind Freddy knew where he was heading.

In the opening betting Berbick was a 6-1!!! underdog before coming in at 3-1 against. What odds was Foreman in his numerous chances? Do you like apples?

There were serious threats of arrest of the principals if either Wills or Firpo scored a knockout, with a claim that it's not a boxing contest, but a prize fight. Both boxers knew about these threats in advance.

It didn't seem to concern the New Jersey authorities when Jack Dempsey knocked out Georges Carpentier at the same arena, 3 years earlier.:huh

I would be inclined to agree. Some champions clearly avoided the best competition, but Dempsey avoided Wills for nearly 8 years. During this timeline, Wills was viewed as the #1 contender for several of those years and beat some common opponents that Dempsey faced.

Fred Fulton, Joe Jeannette ( Dempsey avoided an older Jeannette as a sub in, Jeannette in the ring ready to go to ) John Lester Johnson ( Who gave Dempsey a tough fight, Fripo, Sam Langford ( who Dempsey;s manager clearly said no thanks to ) and Sam Mcvey.

A close second would be Johnson avoiding Sam Langford from 1909-1915.

This film that you and Dempsey1234 refer to,

is this the British Pathe film which is on you tube, or is there another one?
