My comment re Johansson being clever enough to take advantage of the sun was tongue cheek - IIRC, Cooper was disadvantaged from the get go being allocated the corner facing the sun. Home ground advantage for Ingo. Yeah, Max slipped in the comment re his legs when interviewed post Louis fight. I wanted to link - but unfortunately I can’t find the full interview at this moment.
Haye distinguished himself by having embarrassing performances before, during and after that fight. He tried to continually goad Klitschko who was just bemused by his dickish behaviour and Haye seemed to put more effort into that than his actual performance then he explained it away with the toe excuse. He made me embarrassed to be British that night. That promotion was billed as ‘The Talk Ends Now’, which was ironic as that was all Haye did in the build up to the fight. As soon as the fight started, Haye’s talking and his chances went out of the window. One of my absolute bugbears is fighters who trash talk continually throughout a promotion and then after the fight they say ‘I was just promoting the fight’. Firstly, there’s a promoter who does that job. Secondly, if you’re that good at trashtalking, there’s a good chance you’re just a dick. Thirdly, have some respect for your opponent, especially when that opponent doesn’t give you a look in for every second of every round of the actual fight. But nope, Haye couldn’t do anything like that. He was just a fighter who lacked class.
If you understand the science a massage prior to a fight would’ve meant squat and diddly. Yet I’ve seen a ton of guys excuse Hearns losing to Marvin for that very reason. “They massaged his legs”...
