Well I count KD it was a perfect counter punch from Tyson, that knocked Tillis on his backside. Who threw a sloppy punch and rightfully paid price for it.

I think majority of the people have it 6-4 Tyson with the 2 points for knockdown, and possibly a bit wider than that. But I don't see the point of rematching Tillis, at that point Tillis was a gate keeper and Tyson beat him and rightfully moved on. No need to stall his career wasting time rematching Tillis.

Well he did beat Frazier on fair cards just ask our resident historian and our most respected poster @Mendoza

“Scrap Iron Johnson was one of those rare journeyman who could take a licking and keep on ticking. It is a well kept secret in boxing that Scrap Iron Johnson might have defeated Joe Frazier if the judges had been honest.”- Mendoza 2007

Pinklon Thomas from 3 years earlier would be a nice fight. There can be no denying whatsoever that he'd seen better days and he was reasonably awkward as it was. His lack of a booming right means he can't win but that jab and chin will allow him to possibly "trouble" Tyson at points. He was a pretty damn good fighter at his best tho.

How about Michael Dokes with his fast starts, blinding hand speed and excellent chin. He'd be inclined to let his hands go more than a lot of others and what a blur they were.

I think The President could potentially be a tough night during his 2 fight peak. He looked to have a lot going for him.

All good calls and I forgot about Ike. Wow, that would've been some fight against Tyson.

Yeah Ike's potential was fascinating and you can steer both ways on it. He had however already had two brilliant showings against highly rated heavyweights with contrasting styles. It was eye opening how he tracked down and destroyed Byrd.

Thomas just seemed to age overnight, he looked like a completely different fighter in only 1 year period. He went from looking like a 30 year old to a 40 year old in such a short frame of time.

I agree with you though even a faded Thomas was competitive vs a peak Tyson, the Thomas of 84 who beat Witherspoon convincingly. Would surely do better and may even extend Tyson into championship rounds, as he had an ATG jab and a rock solid chin.

I wouldn't doubt Pinklon would have been far more interesting from a few years before. If I remember correctly, he actually did have a very good right (probably a bit more powerful than Holmes)...didn't he ice Weaver with it?

Dokes I'm way less confident of, Coetzee was far less of a fighter than Mike and he got him real good. I don't see Michael making it out of the 5th round.

    Do you mean Vitali (President)?

I think the early drug use caught up with him.

I think it was one of the few times he threw an impressive right hand. It was his weaker hand comfortably for mine.

Picture the blistering start Dokes put on Weaver both times. Dokes had been partying hard on cocaine less than 48hrs before he entered the ring against Coetzee. He was a fiend at that point. Dokes has the speed and accuracy to actually trouble Tyson early. Watch Weaver - Dokes 1 and the first couple of minutes of the rematch.

    President Ike.

Look out.....I think this one is slowly turning into another, less than original "list of fighters who can beat mike Tyson in his prime" thread
