Worst fighters you'd pick to stop 1919 Jess Willard?

How about Lamon Brewster, Clifford Etienne, Amir Mansour, or Tony Galento?

Thread is generally off the mark.
Willard wasn't that bad for the Dempsey fight.
Jack was scared for his life.
Willard landed many good punches before the onslaught, and a few good ones after he onslaught.

Foreman beat Frazier way worse than Dempsey beat Willard. Yet I doubt people would be picking Crabtree and Purrity over him. It seems like Willards rating suffers unreasonably from the Dempsey loss.

This doesnt seem like a genuine question.
But rather a rain dance for anti classicists.

I'd pick this Willard to smoke out the Ross Purrity who beat Klitschko.

Herbie Hide but nobody takes him out like Dempsey did. That's why the Willard win is so marvelous. Not because of the fact that Dempsey stopped him but because of how he did it. Nobody could match that performance.

It might be the case that no other heavyweight in history would have matched Dempsey's performance.

Joe Louis perhaps could have done, but he would have preferred to soften Willard up a bit, before committing to the kill.

Sony Liston would have favoured a more systematic breakdown.

Mike Tyson needed a bit more space to work then Dempsey, and a guy Willard’s size could generally hold him off for a bit by clinching.

Lennox Lewis would have tried a safety first approach initially.

Why don't we add guys picked at random off the street while we are at it?
