He out boxed Froch in every way. It seems you just didn't like his methodology but he obviuosly scored more points than Froch. And like I always say, look at both of their faces after the fight.

Margaritos to block until he had a clear shot. His defense was terrible, the shots were getting in. By the time he started doing what he knows best(slugging) was when he had some success but by then that busted eye and that body shot that hurt him had taken a toll on him.

Does a two-punch combination constitute a "gameplan" for you? Is that it? That's not what I think of when I think of a gameplan.

Besides going backwards when one is boxing and countering, what else would you consider runing? And to say Dirrells style wasn't at all sophisticated but led him to tag Frochs face all night long is kinda interesting! Is Frochs defense really that poor? why was it that no matter how bad Andre looked he was still touching this guy in every round. Same thing in the Abraham fight. These Euros know nothing about how to deal with what the sweet science brings.

Bull****. Mayweather's hands are still as fast as anyone else in the sport.

Does Wlad not have a gameplan then? How is it not a gameplan? Just because he didn't press, or box off the back foot behind the jab, just because he didn't adopt a conventional boxer/swarmer/slugger style and gameplan? Of course it was a gameplan. His gameplan was obviously to open up holes in Mayweather's unconventional defence to put his power punches in behind. And like I said, it nearly worked, he's come closer to beating Mayweather than most even if he lost 10-2 on rounds, he just missed his opportunity. I don't think the gameplan was ever for it to go 12, anybody who thinks Mosley had a chance over the distance against Mayweather fighting with whatever gameplan and style needs to rethink.

If you want to see an actual gameplan against PBF look at what DLH did. Used the Jab and put pressure tried to rough up PBF in the clinches etc. He was just too old/ran out of gas after the 6th round to keep doing it. But yes, PBF is a master at figuring out his opponent his actual ring smarts are off the chart.

I don't know why you try to lecture people on here because when you post crap like you did above it makes me question if you even watch Boxing.

Fair enough, I'm not too interested in arguing over it, but for me a two-punch combination is a pathetic attempt at a "gameplan". It should be one part of a much larger plan IMO, but it's fair enough if we disagree. Wlad's situation is entirely different because he has titanic size advantages over almost everyone he fights, that's a different scenario entirely.

Its a catch 22 for an old fighter.

Your reflexes are generally too old to counter, unless your Hopkins or McCallum of coarse, and your stamina is too deteriorated due to age, to apply pressure consistently.

I must admit though, there is nothing more frustrating than watching an older fighter failing miserably to counter a younger man due to his aged reflexes. I always think, if your reflexes are too eroded to counter, then try and negate it by getting off first, only how many times have you seen an older fighter trying to counter, and cause he cant react to the opponent due to his aged reflexes, he becomes inactive and starts dropping rounds?

For once, I agree with you (not about Tommy posting crap, but about ODLH having an actual comprehensive gameplan which focused on offence and defence, whereas Shane did not have anything other than a two-punch sequence which worked once or twice and then he was marooned in the centre of the ring getting tooled).

Shane looked like an amateur against PBF. Was shut out ofter the 2nd round.

I'm not trying to lecture people, Popkins is a smart enough poster to have his own opinion and put his own points across, I was merely doing the same and having a discussion on what is a discussion forum. No need for you to get involved Goomba. Run along and take your Cialis so you can give the folds of your sofa a good night again.
