Ruiz couldn't KO Roy cause Roy never got hit hard by him. Had Ruiz landed anything flush on him, he would have hurt him badly. Ruiz had wobbled much stronger fighters.

So, you're saying John Ruiz from that fight was too ****e to connect on a SMW during 12rds and he was heavyweight world champion? Ok, cool.

    Have a word with yourself.

Was Roy just some SMW? :patsch

Is that really your evidence of why Ruiz wouldn't have been able to have beaten Charles Martin?

And now Charles would have beaten Roy easily?

Based on what? Tarver or Johnson etc?

If Ruiz couldn't even knock out a so called SMW, how the hell did he manage to have 3 close fights with a guy like Evander who still had a bit left in the tank?

    Terrible logic.

You've made some fair points but you've exaggerated.

He was more than a region belt holder. Otherwise the guys he fought would have blown through him despite any illegal tactics or poor decisions.

If you'd have fed a Euro level HW to Evander in the early 00's, he'd have beaten him easy.

A boxer today is 10x better than a boxer of yesteryear?

    What?

    Stop embarrassing yourself.

If you want to make a point, then make a point.

Describing Roy as merely a SMW is just a joke.

Based on Charles Martin being a natural heavyweight who outweighs Jones by a good 30-40lbs(Jones HW weight) and has a 6inch height advantage plus a 6 inch reach advantage. Not to mention knock-out power as his resume contains almost a 90% KO ratio. If you think Jones' power at HW would keep Martin at bay, that's up to you.
He managed to keep Ruiz at bay because Ruiz is ****e as I keep pointing out.

You're embarrassing yourself trying to tell people Roy Jones is a heavyweight.

Holyfield was as slow and lethargic as Ruiz was during those fights. Also, Holyfield is not a natural heavyweight neither.
He did well at HW no doubt, its why he's well respected in the boxing world(avoiding the roid issue)

I'm not bothered about the above.

It's fair enough if you think that.

    I've no issue with that.

The issue I have is that you've dismissed Ruiz's chances against Martin, on the grounds that Ruiz couldn't beat a so called SMW.

That was poor on your part.

    Roy wasn't just some SMW.

He was an exceptional fighter who weighed in just under 200 pounds.

    Stop being ignorant.

Are you going to say that anybody in today's top 30 would have beaten Ruiz because he couldn't even beat a SMW?

    It's nonsense.

You didn't have to refer to Roy as being a SMW to make the point that you don't rate Ruiz.
