In 2003, Roy was a HW.

    What about Toney?

Was he just a former MW?

It doesn't matter if Evander used to be a CW.

He was an established HW who went on to give Valuev a good fight years later. A lot of people think he was robbed in that fight.

The point is, Evander still had a bit left in the tank in the early 00's, and if Ruiz was as garbage as what you're saying, then he would have dealt with him easily.

Jones never rated 2003 Ruiz, its why he jumped up in weight and beat up the worst heavyweight champion in history. Ruiz was a top 15 fighter of that era no doubt, he just happened to be gifted LL's title during that time and Roy capitalised. Ruiz is slow and stationery, these fighters are Jones's bread and butter.

As for todays era vs 2003 Ruiz

    Wlad knocks him out cold
    Povetkin does
    Haye does
Fury wins by KO or UD
I'm not even a Wilder fan but he knocks out 2003 Ruiz without any issue
    Ortiz murders him
    Chisora would beat him
    Stiverne would
Young Fury boxes his face off
    Parker beats him
    Joshua knocks him out
Scott outboxes him(I truly believe that)
    Takam would beat him
    Jennings would beat him
I'll pick one more random name who would beat both Jones and 2003 Ruiz, Ustinov

You probably think Jones and Ruiz beats some of those people, its why I won't take you serious with your obvious pro-HW Jones agenda.

Because that's just how all sports work. Just look at any world record involving athletics. Newer generations blow away the older.

If you don't think I'm credible, I found Mike Tyson saying the same thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BF-sxSipAMs

    No.

This line of thinking is so ignorant and ridiculous.

Boxing isn't like any other sport.

Don't compare two men fighting in a ring, to track and field athletes.

Just because Usain Bolt is the fastest sprinter of all time, it doesn't meant that today's MW's are the best MW's of all time and today's HW's are the best HW's of all time.

    Are you serious?

Just go and watch some footage.

Boxing doesn't progress in the same way that other sports do. It doesn't progress each decade. Otherwise the guys who fought in the 70's would have been better than all the guys of the 60's, and the guys of the 80's would have been better than all the guys of the 70's etc.

    Open your eyes.

The best fighters today are not the best fighters of all time, in the same way that today's sprinters are the fastest of all time.

There's fighters from 40 years ago who could have beaten some of today's best fighters.

The best HW's of the 70's, 80's and 90's would go through most of today's top 20 with absolute ease.

Name me a WW today who had the attributes of SRR.

Yes, a sprinter from the 1970's could never beat Usain in the 100m today. But that can't be used as some sort of evidence to say that Homles, Foreman and Ali etc couldn't beat any of today's HW's.

I can't honestly believe you think in this manner.

Boxing is an art. It's the sweet science.

Advancements in sports science don't aid fighters in the same way that they do with athletes of other sports.

A left hook will always be a left hook. Nothing will ever change that.

You can give a fighter today a nutritionist, a masseuse, a state of the art gym etc, it doesn't matter. He's still got to master footwork and timing etc. It's not a given that he's going to be better than the greats of the past.

If you're not trolling, my advice to you is to go and watch a lot more boxing.

    I couldn't give 2 f*cks what you think because you're a f*cking idiot.

Yes, I do think Roy could beat a few of those guys.

    Why not?

You've hardly listed the greatest HW's of all time.

Go look at McCall's resume if you have a grasp on 80s 90's HW'S you'll see plenty good names on there. Many who he beat.

I'm so glad you're here mate because I just can't be bothered explaining this any further.

Seriously though, where does this line of thinking come from?

How could anybody be so ignorant?

How can anyone seriously believe that fighters of the past couldn't beat fighters of today based on track and field and swimming records?

Can you imagine Duran at LW today?

    I despair.

If you're going to call me a "****ing idiot" could you at least put your harsh words into paragraphs so I can digest your insults properly?

Just out of curiosity, which HW's I just mentioned does 5'10 190lbs 2003 Roy Jones beat?
