Even a glancing blow from Martin would knock Roy out cold.

How's Roy going to land hooks from the outside when he has a 6 inch reach disadvantage?

Chisora would have been an extremely dangerous fight for Roy.

I'll be interested to see how Hughie progresses. I've heard Peter say they want to fight AJ at the end of the year.

    He'd definitely be a contender.

    Didn't Chagaev/Brown have the WBA?

    Chagaev beat Valuev.

Martin couldn't have beaten Roy on size alone.

    Ruslan Chagaev:

    Height - 6'1

    Reach - 74"

    Weight - 230 pounds

    Nikolai Valuev:

    Height - 7'0

    Reach - 85"

    Weight - 320

    Difference:

    Height - 11"

    Reach - 11"

    Weight - 90 pounds

    That gives you some perspective.

I'd pick the Ruiz version of Roy over Valuev any day of the week.

Yes, Charles Martin could have beaten Roy. But not just because he was bigger. He'd have needed skills to have accomplished it.

Roy was an exceptional fighter, so it wouldn't have been a given that any HW would have beaten him.

But Roy is smaller than Chagaev. He weighed all of 193 lbs in the Ruiz fight, and is 5'11. I doubt Roy would even be able to reach Valuev.

Boxing has weight classes for a reason. As great as Roy was, he's not a HW in any way, shape, or form. He'd get manhandled by any top 10 HW.

It doesn't matter if Roy was smaller than Chagaev.

I have just given you an example of how Chagaev overcame an 11" height disadvantage, an 11" reach disadvantage, and a 90 pound weight disadvantage.

Roy wasn't much smaller than Chagaev anyway. He also weighed more than 193 for Ruiz.

Are you telling me that there's no way that Roy could have beaten Valuev?

You doubt that Roy could have reached Valuev? Roy has the same reach as Chagaev. If you don't think that Roy could have reached Valuev, then please explain how Chagaev managed to come away with a decision?

    Based on what?

Martin looks poor, and are you seriously saying that no other HW could have been beaten by Roy?

People need to stop counting the WBA regular as a world title when there's a super champion.

Lol, whatever. Roy had the speed to stay away from clean blows. Reflexes were on point and Roy would be hard to hit for any slowish HW.

Roid Jones would have have had a chance against Valouev.

Martin is one of the worst heavyweights I have ever seen, and I've seen some pretty bad ones.............
